• UConnect phonebook stores up to 32 names and four numbers per name
• Allows up to five wireless phones to be paired to the system

10.0 Trouble Shooting Guide
Issue #1I am having trouble getting
UConnect to work with my wireless phone.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
For full operation, UConnect requires the user to have a BluetoothTM -enabled phone that supports a “Hands-Free” Profile.
Prior to using UConnect with your BluetoothTM -enabled wireless phone, you will need to perform an initial “pairing” of the two devices.
Each wireless phone has various BluetoothTM operations. The wireless phone BluetoothTM
operation must be set to “on.” Difficulty in pairing the two devices may result if the Bluetooth operation is set to “Automatic” (or any other operation except “on”).
The UConnect system must be “on” before it can connect to a “paired” wireless phone.
NOTE: If you have a wireless phone that supports earlier BluetoothTM profiles* (e.g. headset profile), you will be able to carry on hands-free converstaions using UConnect but will not be able to use advanced features such as digit dialing, phonebook dialing, etc.
Consult your wireless phone owner’s manual to ensure your wireless phone is BluetoothTM
-enabled and supports a “Hands-Free” Profile.
If you have a BluetoothTM- enabled phone and have not performed the initial “pairing” of the two devices, refer to the “Pairing Your Wireless Phone with UConnect” section of this manual for assistance.
To check or configure the wireless phone’s BluetoothTM
settings, refer to the wireless phone owner’s manual for instructions.
To test your UConnect System please refer to issue #3 on the following page.
For additional information regarding BluetoothTM enabled wireless phones, contact your wireless phone carrier or UConnect Support @ 1-877-855-8400. Please make note of your phone’s model number prior to calling for assistance
Issue #4I am not sure if I have correctly
paired my wireless phone to the UConnect Hands-Free Communication System.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
Prior to using UConnect with your BluetoothTM-enabled phone, you will need to perform an initial “pairing” of the two devices.
To confirm that your wireless phone is correctly paired, check the following:
The wireless phone is “on” and the wireless phone BluetoothTM
operation is “on.”
A solid light next to the
button on the UConnect control pad is “on” indicating that the wireless phone is connected.
Your wireless phone may have an indicator signaling a current BluetoothTM connection exists. (Consult your wireless phone owner’s manual for specific details).
Consult your wireless phone or UConnect owner’s manual to ensure you have correctly completed the “pairing process”.
If any of these indicators are not evident, repeat the initial “pairing process”. (Refer to the “Pairing Your Wireless Phone with UConnect” section of this owner’s manual for assistance.)
If you require additional assistance, contact your local Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep® dealership, your wireless carrier or UConnect Support @ 1-877-855-8400.
18 19
Issue #2I am unable to make calls using the UConnect
Hands-Free Communication System.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
In order for the UConnect system to work, your wireless phone must be fully capable of making and receiving calls independent of the UConnect system.
The UConnect system must be operational.
Test your wireless phone by ensuring it is turned “on” and you are able to make and receive calls.
If unable to use your wireless phone, you may have an issue with wireless coverage, account status, or the phone equipment.
NOTE: If your wireless phone signal strength is low, relocating your wireless phone may increase signal strength and improve reception.
To test the operation of the UConnect System, please refer to issue #3 below.
If your phone is not operational, consult your wireless carrier for additional troubleshooting and assistance.
Issue #3I am unsure if my UConnect Hands-Free Communication System is operational.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
In order to use the UConnect System, it must have power and be fully operational.
Start your vehicle. Within 3-5 seconds the two lights on the UConnect control pad will flash briefly confirming that UConnect is “on”.
Next, press the
and listen for the “ready” response. This will confirm the unit is functional.
If you require additional assistance, contact your local Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep® dealership or UConnect Support @ 1-877-855-8400.
Issue #5My UConnect Hands-Free Communication System
is having difficulty recognizing words or digits.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
The UConnect System uses the latest speech recognition technology. UConnect works best when you talk clearly and in a normal speaking tone.
Speak slightly slower and annunciate all digits/words clearly.
Speak at a normal level.
Try to identify the particular words or digits that the UConnect System has trouble recognizing and practice saying them differently until the recognition improves.
Be aware that certain vehicle environments will be more challenging for voice recognition. These include:
Windows/sunroof open
Road and exterior noise
Higher vehicle speed
Other passengers speaking
Rain and windshield wipers
Defroster/vent fans at high settings
If you require additional assistance, call UConnect Support @ 1-877-855-8400
Issue #6I am experiencing difficulties when entering certain
names into the UConnect Phonebook.
Explanation User Action Additional Support
The UConnect System uses the latest speech recognition technology. It is extremely difficult to accommodate all dialects and speech patterns. UConnect users may have to slightly modify their normal speech patterns in order to effectively communicate with the UConnect System.
The UConnect Phonebook may have difficulty recognizing short, single-syllable names. As an alternative, try using the person’s first and last name (example: Instead of “Bill” try “Bill Smith”).
The UConnect Phonebook may have difficulty storing long, multi-syllable names. As an alternative, try to shorten the name, use a nickname, or use first or last names only (example: Instead of “William Johnson” try “Bill Johnson”, or “Billy” or “Johnson”)
Please refer to Troubleshooting Issue #5 regarding voice recognition. You will have better success if you enter names in the phonebook while in a low-noise environment.
If you require additional assistance, call UConnect Support @ 1-877-855-8400

A Word About Driver Distraction
DaimlerChrysler recognizes the safety concerns related to driver distraction and is part of a joint government-industry effort to help develop industry guidelines related to driver-focused driving. As personal communications and connectivity rapidly expand, owners will bring new forms of communications with them wherever they go, including their vehicle. The company aims to create an in-vehicle environment in which personal connectivity and safety go hand-in-hand. DaimlerChrysler believes the UConnect Hands-Free Communication System can provide overall safety benefits.
