TECHPRENEUR
At IC, Alex teamed up with students in his entrepreneurship class to develop an app to help people stop smoking. They worked on StopPack at Rev, a startup incubator in Ithaca that offers mentor ship and support for new businesses.
After graduating, Alex returned to Vermont to launch his own coding academy in Burlington.
I asked myself, ‘How do we provide these opportunities for people to explore careers in tech?’
I wanted a small environment to thrive in, connect to my professors, and not get lost in the crowd.

For the opportunities it offered me as a first-year student. I didn’t have to wait to get involved.
Ezeka Allen ’19 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, MASSACHUSETTS
Because of the area and how much there is do. There has not been one day that I have been bored.
Amy Manchester ’20 INTEGRATIVE STUDIES, MUSIC INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK
I realized that IC would allow me to develop hands-on skills while also getting a well-rounded education.
Kyle Stewart ’18 JOURNALISM, NEW YORK
Because of the Martin Luther King Scholar Program, which is focused on something I always saw myself dedicating my life to: social justice.

Why did you choose IC?
For the past year, Kendra Hubal ’19 has worked as a volunteer at Kali’s Klubhouse, a nonprofit organization that provides equine therapy for at-risk teens, children with special needs, and veterans.
Kendra is a speech pathology major, and she and her classmates help prepare the horses for their sessions with the children and walk alongside them as they ride.
Kendra also mentors at-risk teens there. Her experience as a teen at the farm helped her realize what she wanted to do with her life. She thought she wanted to study music, but after volunteering at Kali’s Klubhouse, she decided on speech pathology.
Healing Strides
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to help. Some of these children—you’ll see them smile on the horse, or be vocal, and it’s heart-warming. We call the farm a healing place, and that’s truly what it is.
Ithaca is beautiful blanketed in snow. But it’s a great place to be any time of the year.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for at the fair, here’s what to do:
1 Meet with a student who will walk you through the start-up process.
2 Find more students to join you.
3 Get awesome student leaders to serve as officers.
4 Ask your favorite professor or staff member to be your advisor.
5 Fill out an online form.
6 Start making an impact in the IC community!
CREATING A FAMILY
Adrienne was adopted from Korea when she was six months old. Now, as a sophomore, she’s started the first college chapter of the Jockey Being Family Campus Crew, an organization that supports adoptive families.
“I believe that every child deserves to grow up in a loving family. [Jockey Being Family] gives me a platform to spread positivity about adoption and inclusion.”

Winter in IthacaJust because the temperature drops, it doesn’t mean everyone stays huddled inside. Ithacans know how to make the most of the season with fun activities.
Check out ice sculptures at the Downtown Ithaca Ice Festival—quick, before they melt.
Taste chili from more than 30 different restaurants during the Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off.
Grab snowshoes from the fitness center and hit the IC Natural Lands.
Two words: snow castle Map out Ithaca’s cafés and find out
who makes the best hot cocoa. Go cross-country skiing on one of
Ithaca’s recreation trails. Hit the slopes at nearby Greek Peak.
(IC even has a course in skiing and snowboarding!)
