The Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM), established in 1990 by a group of business leaders with a global vision and a team of distinguished academics from leading world universities, is an international business school like no other. It is an independent, non-profit centre of excellence dedicated to drawing together the best available business and management education from around the world and making it available, in a single, attractive location, to exceptional individuals regardless of origin and financial means.

To accomplish its mission, CIIM has pioneered the interactive modular educational model which permits: (1) management gurus and world-renowned academics from leading business schools to teach at CIIM at regular intervals; (2) exceptional individuals in positions of responsibility to attend our programmes without unduly disrupting their business; and (3) an incredible efficiency, flexibility and compactness, thus saving money and time while achieving world-class excellence.

Academic quality at CIIM is overseen by an international Academic Council comprised of leading business school deans and distinguished academics from around the world. Business is global; talent is scarce and dispersed; new knowledge is created all the time. To capture the 'globality' of business, to tap faculty talent, and to continuously draw on new knowledge and practice, an innovative programme, the CIIM Euro-American MBA, was created 17 years ago and located at the crossroads of three continents. This unique, indeed revolutionary, MBA draws an all-star faculty from leading business schools across Europe and North America. A panel of faculty members selects an elite student body from five continents through a rigorous interview process. Faculty and students then meet at an exciting location on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, an EU member and a business and trade centre for the last 3000 years. What follows is a 12-month immersion into an unprecedented fusion of the best of European and American business education, with a laser-sharp focus on quality, creativity and personal effectiveness. Our graduates are in high demand for their global perspective, stellar education and the ability to think strategically and execute effectively. They become leaders of change; not managers of the status quo.

Our philosophy is that if, today's business is global, business education must also be global – in faculty, in curriculum and in students. No single business school, however large and distinguished, can have the global insight and the worldwide perspective that business leaders and managers need to have today if they are to compete globally, as they must. This is why CIIM draws its faculty from 24 leading business schools from ten different countries. In addition to a select team of accomplished resident academics, the CIIM MBA faculty includes fifty world-renowned academics and management gurus with worldwide business experience spanning the entire spectrum, from family business to Fortune 500 companies. They bring with them new ideas, unique insights, diverse experiences and creative teaching methods that bridge theory and practice and enrich the learning environment. No other business school can match the diversity of CIIM's all-star faculty coming from so many, diverse and esteemed institutions:

Harvard (US) LBS (UK) INSEAD (France)MIT (US) LSE (UK) HEC (France)Columbia (US) Warwick (UK) ESSEC (France)Wharton (US) Oxford (UK) Bocconi (Italy)Kellogg (US) Cambridge (UK) Maastricht (Netherlands)Duke (US) Cranfield (UK) UCD (Ireland)NYU-Stern (US) Manchester (UK) ANU (Australia)Queen's (Canada) Edinburgh (UK) Athens Univ. Member of

The CIIM MBA is internationally accredited by:The London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA). Fewer than 5% of the world's 3000 MBA programmes are AMBA accredited. The EFMD with the EPAS Accreditation Quality Label.

It is also recognised and accredited by the Accreditation Authorities of the Cyprus Government, SEKAP and KYSATS, and by extension, the European Union and its member countries.

CIIM is an active member of both the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) and the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

It is also a member of the Academic Council of the European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM).

CIIM regularly takes part in EU programmes, including Erasmus, Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci.

CIIM programme credits are recognised and fully transferable throughout the European Union and beyond, under the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

An Academic Council of international Deans and distinguished academics from leading business schools ensure the academic quality of CIIM's programmes is of the highest international standards.

CIIM understands that for MBA students to perform to their maximum potential and up to the world-class standards of the School, they must have the flexibility and the choice to take courses and examinations when they are in top form. The CIIM MBA is a highly flexible programme aimed at both full-time students and working professionals who share classes and benefit greatly from each other. This is why 17 years ago CIIM invented a unique 'modular' course structure, as opposed to the conventional semester system. This enables students and faculty to have a laser-sharp focus on a single subject at a time, in an intensive and highly interactive learning environment. This is yet another unique feature of our programmes.

With a requirement to complete 15 core and 6-10 elective courses from seven areas of concentration, in addition to a final project, CIIM offers one of the most demanding, yet flexible MBA programmes anywhere. Thanks to our weekly modular structure, there are no application deadlines; newly-admitted students can enter the programme any time of the year (a new course commences every 15 days). The modular structure and the programme's intensity make it possible to complete what should be a two-year MBA in a single year.

The CIIM MBA curriculum is cutting edge, thoroughly international and is designed to provide students with far-reaching business management insights and skills required to achieve success in a wide range of industries anywhere in the world.

The CIIM MBA is one of the most demanding and intellectually challenging MBA programmes anywhere. Its content is frequently refreshed to incorporate new ideas and practices in tune with both new research findings and developments in the business world. While we routinely introduce our students to the latest theories and international practices, we move beyond the theory and broad-based fundamentals to action learning, professional development and personal effectiveness to accelerate career progression and change management. CIIM offers its MBA students over 50 elective courses, organised into seven areas of concentration, to choose from, enabling them to manage the organisation or industry of their choice.

To graduate, students need to earn 105 credits: 60 core course credits (a course credit corresponds to seven class-contact hours), and 25 elective course credits, plus a Final Project that counts for 20 credits. Courses vary from two credits to five credits depending on the subject matter.

Following are the core and elective courses offered by CIIM to its MBA students:

The final and most significant stepping stone of CIIM MBA is the Final Project, which is at the heart of CIIM's educational philosophy. CIIM encourages the application of acquired theoretical knowledge to the working environment. Therefore, projects undertaken in co-operation with public or private organisations should be thought of as consultancy studies and, as such, should prove of mutual benefit to both the participants and the organisations involved.

Over six hundred class-contact hours using innovative yet proven paedagogical methods make the CIIM MBA a unique and inspiring learning experience. Students learn how to think about problems and come up with creative solutions, not what to think. It is difficult to describe the spirit of interactive engagement of students with each other, the faculty and the business community. Here are some of the methods and modalities used:

A Stimulating Learning EnvironmentStudents find CIIM's environment stimulating and conducive to high performance learning. This is partly due to the uniquely friendly atmosphere, characteristic of the legendary Cypriot hospitality, and partly due to CIIM's state-of-the-art facilities, ranging from 24-hour a day, seven days a week, computer facilities and wireless internet, to extensive library resources and multiple electronic information services. Students also have access to these resources and our intranet service from their homes. More importantly, students receive personal attention and eager assistance from our expert IT and library personnel. Each student is also assigned a faculty member who acts both as an advisor and as a mentor. CIIM's highly interactive approach to management education and the frequent on-campus presentations by business leaders and successful entrepreneurs, further enlivens and enriches the School's learning environment.

CIIM students are chosen for their strong academic credentials, diverse experience and leadership qualities. While CIIM is a highly competitive school, admitting just one in ten applicants, it is also closely attuned to what it takes to succeed in today's intensely competitive world of business. At CIIM, imagination, creativity and leadership qualities count as much as academic prowess.

Specifically, the CIIM MBA would be most beneficial to:

Individuals of diverse educational backgrounds who aspire to a successful career in management and leadership.

Professionals who may wish to strengthen their managerial qualifications or change the direction of their career.

Middle-level managers of high potential who require the additional capabilities provided by an MBA to undertake increased responsibility within their companies, and prepare themselves to move into positions of leadership.

Young entrepreneurs who wish to acquire the additional skills they need to manage a growing business.

The CIIM MBA attracts a remarkable number of high-calibre applicants from around the world who value the programme's unique combination of academic excellence, diversity, flexibility and affordability. What they find particularly irresistible is the opportunity to study with world-renowned professors, not just from one but from 24 leading business schools at an affordable cost. The cream of the crop who are accepted and join the programme are astonished by the line-up of distinguished faculty and the diversity of the educational backgrounds and business experience of fellow students, as well as the dynamic learning environment and the friendly, family-like atmosphere of the School.

.

Virtually all disciplines and professions are represented in the student body, which packs a combined work and business experience of several hundred years. CIIM has probably the world's highest percentage of female students among business schools: over 40% compared with fewer than 30% for most schools.

The over 1000 graduates of CIIM MBA have organised themselves into an exclusive club-like Alumni Association. A significant advantage of becoming a CIIM graduate is that you automatically join a worldwide network of CIIM brand ambassadors who actively support each other throughout their career. The School maintains an active relationship with its alumni and holds public lectures, in-country visits and social events to encourage networking, exchange of ideas and mutual support. Alumni play a key role in both student recruitment and job placement after graduation.

In tune with the legendary Cyprus hospitality, CIIM operates a service-oriented International Office which attends to the needs of international students from the moment they arrive on campus to the moment they graduate. The Admissions Office makes the visa arrangements and receives students upon arrival in Cyprus. The International Office welcomes the students and organises an orientation day at the School and one around town. Students receive assistance with housing, immigration, opening a bank account, medical insurance and other needs they may face in a foreign country; although Cyprus, with its friendly and cosmopolitan culture and widely spoken English, feels much less foreign than most. The International Office regularly organises special events for international students as well as notifies them about social events in town that are of potential interest. The Office's objective is to make international students feel at home away from home.

The informal motto around the campus is “work hard and play hard”. Students are organised into a variety of Activity Clubs – from an investment club to sport, dancing, singing and wine-tasting. Annually, the school holds several pool and beach parties, excursions to mountain resorts and skiing sites as well as alumni-and-student-grand get-togethers and a variety of other social activities, sport events and competitions. With Cyprus' rich history and fascinating culture, the fabulous sandy beaches and quaint mountain resorts, the cosmopolitan towns and picturesque countryside, the hospitable people and the exquisite cuisines from around the world, there is so much to do outside the classroom. The vibrant life of the capital, Nicosia, where CIIM is located, offers a relaxing and entertaining diversion from the intensity of our MBA programme. A special feature is the Friday evening “happy hour” that the students share with their professors after a week's hard work.

CIIM, as an institution of advanced management and leadership studies, sees as its mission to help ambitious and highly motivated individuals to reach their full potential and make a difference in the world. Towards this goal, CIIM has established the Career Development Centre (CDC) and has invested heavily in helping its graduates secure rewarding and influential careers.

The CDC offers a range of internal and external career management services to help you gain immediate and long-term returns on your investment. As a student, you will attend career development workshops by human resource development experts and professional recruiters and receive personal guidance on drafting a winning curriculum vitae and on preparing yourself for top performance in job interviews. You will also be given many opportunities to sharpen your communication and presentation skills. At the same time, you will have great opportunities for networking with fellow students – several of them employers themselves – with over 1000 accomplished alumni and with the many leaders of international companies with which CIIM is associated. As a graduate of CIIM you, along with the graduates of a handful of other leading business schools, will share exclusivity in the MBA-exchange, an international recruiting service which specialises in the recruitment of the best and the brightest MBAs.

The CDC regularly organises open Career Days during which many local, international and multinational companies set up recruitment desks on campus and interview graduating students. Here is a small sample of international companies and organizations that have recently recruited CIIM graduates:

The CDC also organises internships for students with local and international companies in Cyprus and throughout Europe (sponsored by EU's Leonardo da Vinci internship programme).

Intensive Business English InstructionEnglish is the language of instruction and of all other activities at CIIM. Highly qualified applicants who are admissible to the programme except for their lack of English fluency may be given conditional admission subject to improving their language skills. These students have the opportunity to take an intensive course in business English (both writing and conversational) at CIIM, to upgrade their language skills before they begin their MBA programme.

As an elite and highly selective School, CIIM seeks to admit exceptionally-qualified candidates who will make a substantial contribution to the classroom, to business and to the society at large. There are five main prerequisites: A Bachelor degree or equivalent (such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA) from a

recognised college or university (degree and transcript required). The quality of the school and programme attended and the grades received are key considerations.

Fluency in English evidenced by TOEFL (or equivalent test) scores, or by graduation from an English-speaking university, or through an interview. Highly qualified students without sufficient English fluency might be admitted conditionally (see section on business English).

A minimum of two years' working experience is required (part-time employment, work in family business and military service also count). A small number of students (under 10%) may be admitted with less than two years' experience provided they have other strong compensating qualities.

Motivation, character and leadership qualities. Good performance at a rigorous personal interview with a faculty panel, either

in person or over the telephone. * While GMAT scores are not a mandatory requirement for admission, those with high GMAT scores are given preference and may also be eligible for scholarship (see section on financial assistance below). GMAT scores may also be requested of applicants with conflicting or difficult-to-assess records.

CIIM is an independent non-state, non-profit educational institution with a public purpose: to make world-class business education affordable to the best and the brightest to enable them to realise their full potential and to empower them to change the world for the better. While we spare no expenses in attracting an all-star faculty, our tuition fees are only a fraction of those of other leading business schools (see table below for comparison). We owe this incredible cost-effectiveness, in part, to our intensive modular course structure and, in part, to our non-profit status, our public mission and our prudent financial management.Tuition fees are currently at €15,000 (US$18,000) including all study materials and school services regardless of the time it takes a student to complete the programme. By comparison to other European locations, living costs in Cyprus are moderate: € , 00 (US$ ,000) average, for a full calendar year.

CIIMs model (of intensive modular course structure) is being increasingly adopted throughout the world in prestigious schools such as Wharton and Warwick, to suggest but a few.

Limited financial assistance, in the form of scholarships, research and other assistantships, is available for outstanding candidates. Special student loans (by local and international banks) are also provided. While GMAT scores are not required for admission (unless specifically requested of an applicant), scholarships are based on GMAT scores:

GMAT score ≥ 760: 100% tuition scholarship )

GMAT score ≥ 730: 50% tuition scholarship ) excluding the registration fee of €800

GMAT score ≥ 700: 25% tuition scholarship )Occasionally, there may be dedicated scholarships sponsored by organisations or companies for their employees or the general public. These are announced on the CIIM website.

All citizens of the 27 member-countries of the European Union can work and study in Cyprus. The CIIM MBA is ideal for a work-and-study combination because of its modular course structure and its great flexibility. Students are free to choose the pace of study that best fits their schedule and their personal circumstances, as long as their academic performance meets CIIM's exacting international standards. The work-and-study combination gives the students the opportunity to practise what they learn and to learn what they practise, and to enrich their learning experience and that of their classmates. At present, non-EU citizens cannot work in Cyprus (except for assistantships at their school) and are expected to complete their studies in 12 months, as full-time students. (However, proposed legislation now in progress may in the future allow students from non-EU countries to work for up to 20 hours per week). Non-EU students also have the opportunity to participate in paid EU internships throughout Europe such as those offered by the Leonardo da Vinci internship programme.

Other CIIM ProgrammesIn parallel with its highly successful MBA for the business sector, CIIM offers another equally successful programme, an “MBA for the public sector”, the Master in Public Sector Management (MPSM). It is widely recognised that the principles of management are equally applicable to government and civil society organisations. Thus, the MPSM programme shares many core courses with the MBA. These are combined with specially tailored courses geared to the particular requirements of the public and non-profit sectors.

MPSM graduates are equipped with the same technical tools and analytical skills (as well as 'soft' skills) as MBA graduates. In addition, they are trained to maintain the competitive spirit and the drive for efficiency, innovation and creativity in the absence of competitive market pressures, where the motive is public service rather than profit. The MPSM shares the same all-star faculty, international standards, modular course structure, duration, flexibility, and affordability as the MBA programme.

It is also possible, and often a good strategy, to do a double degree by combining the two programmes. Having completed one of the two degrees, you need only 33 additional course credits (instead of 85), because of the common trunk of the two programmes, plus a second Final Project. Correspondingly, tuition fees for the second degree are only about one third of the first degree.

CIIM also offers another three specialised Master programmes: MSc in Shipping; MSc in Education Leadership & Management; and MSc in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour. In addition, CIIM has designed and is planning to offer during the next academic year 2007/08 a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) and another four Master programmes – MSc in Marketing Management; MSc in Finance, Banking and Risk Management; MSc in Healthcare Management; and MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

A Strategic Location and an Exciting Social Environment CIIM is located on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, a dynamic EU member at the crossroads of three continents. A bustling centre of international business and trade for over 3000 years and a picturesque cosmopolitan island, Cyprus is an ideal location for a leading international business school and an exciting location for international students: Standing at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, in the hub of Eastern

Mediterranean, Cyprus' strategic location has been a key factor in turning the island into an international business, financial and shipping centre.

About 1,000 international companies, including banks and shipping companies, use Cyprus as a base and a springboard for expanding their activities in the region and beyond.

A cosmopolitan island, Cyprus has become the meeting place of many nationalities and cultures. English is spoken more widely than in any other part of Europe, outside the British Isles.

Cyprus ranks among the world's leaders in per capita university graduates. Income per capita is the highest in the region and among new EU members.

Cyprus is emerging as the easternmost and southernmost outpost of the European Union with privileged access to Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

It is a prime tourist destination for over three million tourists a year from Europe, Asia and North America.

Cyprus has a mild and pleasant climate with 330 sunny days a year, beautiful beaches, quaint mountain resorts and unique archaeological sites.

It has a fascinating culture, exquisite cuisine and friendly people for whom hospitality has always been one of their supreme virtues.

In Cyprus, you feel welcome!
