About Sunandan Divatia School of ScienceSunandan Divatia School of Science was started in 2007 with a view to provide

undergraduate and post graduate students an opportunity to be a part of the unique

learning methodology of the university, which lays emphasis on academic excellence

combined with industry orientated training. With the boom in information technology

having more and more sophistication in instrumentation techniques, there is now a very

thin dividing line between the various disciplines of science. Therefore, there is greater

need for flexibility in scientific thought as well as trained manpower on an

interdisciplinary plane. With this thought in view, the SVKM's NMIMS introduced highly

innovative and unique interdisciplinary Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses at

the Sunandan Divatia School of Science from the academic year 2007-2008. The goal of

the Sunandan Divatia School of Science is to be a centre of Excellence in the domain of

Pure and Applied Sciences by providing quality education and research.

About Department of StatisticsDepartment of Statistics started along with Sunandan Divatia School of Science in 2007

and is one of the few schools in the country with the strong faculty orientation towards

applications of Statistics. This emphasis is reflected in many courses dealing with areas

of statistical applications. The courses are taught through problem solving, case studies,

computer workshop etc. We train our students on theoretical as well as on practical

basis. We believe research and teaching goes hand-in-hand, so we encourage our

students for real life projects in research and industry to develop their innovative

approach to learning process.

About SankhyikiSankhyiki event has been organized for the last six years to promote Statistics at the

undergraduate level. This year the Sunandan Divatia School of Science is organizing a

national workshop on “Campus to Corporate: Career in Statistics and Analytics” for

providing training to UG and PG Statistics students in soft skills such as group discussion,

interview skills and industry job oriented skills as well as preparing them for the

Corporate life. Series of Lectures is organized for Applications of Statistics in various

fields like Banking, Telecom and Consulting.

Objectives of SankhyikiTo create awareness about statistics and to motivate students to take up Statistics as the

major subject at the graduate and post-graduate level.
