A Turtle Tale…A Turtle Tale…

I once knew a sea turtle…I once knew a sea turtle…

And her story’s quite a TALE!

She traveled over a She traveled over a thousandthousand miles,miles,

Her aim was not to FAIL!

She was headed to a southern beach,She was headed to a southern beach,

The same one on which she HATCHED!

A trek that dared to be A trek that dared to be MATCHEDMATCHED!!

She finally arrived and started her trek,

She was tired and worn She was tired and worn from her l-o-n-g ocean from her l-o-n-g ocean

swim,swim,

Yet she pulled herself up on the SHORE.

She scooped out a nest in She scooped out a nest in the soft, sandy beach,the soft, sandy beach,

Knowing exactly what was in STORE!

She laid a hundred eggs in She laid a hundred eggs in that coastal nest,that coastal nest,

And covered them all up with SAND.

She returned that very same night,She returned that very same night,

Leaving her hidden eggs up on the LAND!

Then two months later, Then two months later, something amazing something amazing

occurred…occurred…

Hatchlings emerged from

the NEST!

They scrambled about They scrambled about trying to get to the ocean,trying to get to the ocean,

Their instincts just wouldn’t REST.

Their journey however, Their journey however, had just begun,had just begun,

The light of the moon was their KEY.

Across the wide beach Across the wide beach they must race for the they must race for the

waves,waves,

To begin their life in

the SEA!
