VISITED FEED MILL

i. V.V Feed Mill ( Krishna dist.)-Est.1971 as poultry feed mill

1992-Fish feed production started

1993-Shrimp feed production.(they produce sinking feed for carp, cat fish & shrimp)

Prod. Capacity-1ton/hr.(10 ton/day)

ii. Kwality Feed Mill (Krishna dist.) - Est. in 1993. It is producing floating pellet feeds to provide feed to farmers for all life stages of the carps & catfish.

Prod. Capacity-220 ton/day

Stoking capacity-2000 ton, Ingredient-for 7 days

iii. UNO Feed Mill (Bhimavaram)- First feed mill started in A.P. Thy produce feed for carp & pungassius.

Prod. Capacity-Presently 70 ton/day (New upcoming plant of 100 ton capacity)

TYPES OF PELLETED FEED PRODUCED

1. Floating feed – Density of feed is less than water.

2. Sinking feed – Density of feed is higher than water.

UNITS OF A FEED MILL

Feed mill should have the three essential units

i. Raw material storage unit

ii. Production unit

iii. Feed storage unit

Page 6: A Training Report on Feed Manufacturing Industries in Andhra Pradesh

RAW MATERIAL STORAGE

More area should be available for storage

12500 sq. m area godown was available for storage of raw material in kwality feeds.

UNO feed mill had 10,000

tons storage capacity.

Page 7: A Training Report on Feed Manufacturing Industries in Andhra Pradesh

STORAGE ENVIRONMENT

Should be free from insects, rodents, flies and other

contaminating vectors. The following facilities were available at the Kwality and

UNO feed mills for preventing and control of insects and rodents,

a) Fly proof nets

b) Pest-o-flash

c) Rat traps

Temperature – 26 to 30° C

Relative Humidity < 75%

PRODUCTION UNIT

The production unit is

the heart of the feed mill

This is the unit where all the machineries and

instruments involved in the production of feed are

housed.

This unit comprises of the activities from raw material

weighing to packaging of the feeds

Page 9: A Training Report on Feed Manufacturing Industries in Andhra Pradesh

FEED STORAGE UNIT

Feed bags were stored on wooden planks

3 feet gap was given between wall and bags

Keep fly proof & rat trap

Highly ventilated to prevent stack burn

15000 tons capacity at kwality feeds

Relative Humidity - < 70%
