1st GenerationNash Jewellers was established by John A. Nash in 1918. He opened his first store at 206 Dundas Street, then two years later needing more space he moved to 182 Dundas Street. It was a beauti-ful store that would serve customers for years to come. In 1930 The Gallery was added housing art, antiques, fine furniture, silver and estate jewellery. He also added a store location in Windsor.

John A. Nash developed a trade-in policy which allowed his customers to “grow their diamonds”. This policy is still in use today.

2nd GenerationIn 1934, John B. (Jack) Nash joined the company. He was an outstanding athlete that got the Nash stores a lot of press and much needed advertising through the sports headlines.

Jack and his brother in law Bill Perkins earned their way into the American Gem Society and in 1948 Nash’s was the first Canadian independent company accepted into the organization. For over 30 years, The Gallery flourished and included a resident artist Frank Carpenter. However, when Highway 401 was completed, London lost its tourist traffic and Nash Galleries grew dysfunctional.

3rd GenerationJohn C. Nash joined the firm in 1976, and in 1977 the company added a store in Oakridge Mall and the Nash Gallery was resurrected with Roy Austin as the leading artist. The Oakridge store remained open for 6 years, closing when the mall fell on hard times in the early 1980s.

Under his leadership, the company’s professional development began to grow. John was the firm’s first AGS Certified Gemologist and established the first Canadian AGS Gem Lab. From this point on, all staff were required to take gemological training. In 1978, Nash Jewellers won the ‘Retailer of the Year’ award.

In the late 70’s, John C. Nash joined the Board of the Canadian Jewellers Association, and helped create the accredited appraisers programme. In 1980, The Gallery was converted to a mini gemological museum that featured Period

jewellery and the decade ended with John elected as President of the Canadian Jewellers Association, being invited to join the DeBeers Carat Club and serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Toronto based AGS Conclave.

75th AnniversaryIn 1993, Nash Jewellers celebrated their 75th an-niversary and the business expanded again as they opened Margi’s next door which featured jewellery and fashion accessories.

4th GenerationOur second location, Nash’s North opened in May 2000 at Masonville corner. Colin R. Nash, our 4th generation, joined shortly thereafter con-tinuing the tradition of excellence. Colin completed his Graduate Gemologist at the Gemological Institute of America - GIA - based in Carlsbad,San Diego. He continued to complete his Certified Gemologist degree through the American Gem Society - AGS - and went on to learn the art of goldsmithing at the New Approach School for Jewellers in Virginia Beach. Our company strives to provide clients with only the best products and brands. Nash staff are all well educated, and always ready to help you find your ‘perfect’ jewellery.

We’ve had but 4 managers in our 92 years downtown. Charlie Foster, 1918-1978; Norm Watterton, 1949-1993; Jill Chapman, 1976-2006; and now Shelley Essery who took over a transition period in 2008. Shelley has excelled in her studies com-pleting the highest level of education attaining her Certified Gemologist Appraisers degree this year, a title held by less than a handful of Canadians. Stability within our staff has proven beneficial to both staff and clients.

To provide for our customers a professional staff of trustworthy jewellers dedicated to excellence in business ethics, gemological knowledge and consumer protection.

• Nash’s primary focus is the customer-to provide them with a satisfying emotional experience, the highest level of personal service, uncompromising quality and value of merchandise. • We employ only the most ethical, talented, and dedicated individuals; we provide them with continuous training and support…the study of gemology is a requisite of employment at Nash’s. • We strive to develop close relationships with our manufacturers and suppliers, earning their loyalty, best effort, and competitive value. • We provide gemological education both for our clients and for the public at large.

At Nash Jewellers, we provide our clients many services to ensure they are well taken care of.

AppraisalsHaving an accurate, certified appraisal for your jewellery makes sense. Our gem lab gives you 2 copies, with digital photos, full descriptions of stones, shapes, sizes, metal quality, etc.

An appraisal is necessary: 1. to obtain insurance against:

- accidental loss or theft- loss of gemstones from rings, bracelets and necklaces etc.- damage from everyday use

2. Confirm the value of new pieces.3. Determine the appreciated value of present jewellery or heirlooms.4. Obtain a Jewellery Certificate showing proof of jewellery residence to avoid delays at customs.5. Probate & Estate purposes.

RepairsNash repair work is fully guaranteed. Our repairs are done in London and we have experienced goldsmiths and designers in each location. Only on rare occasions where special expertise is required do your treasures leave your locale.

EngravingNash Jewellers uses only the best artisan for Hand Engravings. Peter Cook provides the finest work to Nash clients. Engraving has been used throughout the ages to personalize jewellery, accessories, firearms and more. Peter is skilled in both machine and hand engraving.

Custom WorkJewellery is about passion and art. It is sensual, tactile and should express each individual’s style and personality. The beauty of custom making jewellery is that we can incorporate your own stones, old gold, and any ideas that you may have. Perfect for when you have an image in your mind that you just can’t seem to find anywhere else. Let our award winning designers and goldsmiths turn your dreams into reality.

The process:

1. Personally meet with one of our designers; with your input they’ll sketch ‘your dream piece…’2. We’ll make a wax mold and ensure it’s ‘exactly’ what you want. (Changes are much easier to make before casting in precious metal.)3. Once approved, we’ll cast or hand fabricate the jewellery in the precious metal of your choice. 4. Filing, sanding and polishing are completed, gems are set, and final touches applied 5. Final inspection – quality control to make sure that the piece is up to Nash standards and ensuring that you’re left with a masterpiece of your own.

Growing Your DiamondsYou can buy well within your means today, and grow your diamonds when you have more money later. Some of our customers keep their original diamond for sentimental reasons, using it as a shoulder stone, or putting it into a pendant, but others literally trade up until they get the size they’ve always wanted.

The program works with earrings as well. You buy a small pair when you’re young, and keep trading up until you’re happy; your trade-ins go to our estate department and everybody wins.

Onsite Rolex Service CentreAs an official Rolex jeweller, Nash is proud to offer quality service by a Rolex trained technician at our 182 Dundas Street location in downtown London, Ontario.

Laser TechnologyThe laser is just one of the many advancements that separates Nash’s from the competition. Ask about the newest technology that shows intensity of light called ASET (Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool) created by the AGS (American Gem Society).

This is a technological advancement that allows us to do difficult repairs, or ones that used to be nearly impossible, quickly and accurately and often in just one step. The laser’s concentrated heat also facili-tates delicate repairs without risking further damage to fragile antique jewellery. We are continuously discovering new uses for the laser welder that will save time and money, such as affordable eyeglass frame repairs.

“In November 2008, our son Chris announced he was going to propose to his girlfriend during a holiday he was planning the following summer. He made a special trip to London to purchase his engagement ring from your store. When asked why he didn’t shop in Toronto, he reminded us that Nash Jewellers was a family tradition. His grandfather, father, and now he would purchase that special piece of jewellery from Nash.

As our son Chris so aptly reminded us, Nash is more than just a store to buy jewellery...it is generations of your family and ours making memories.” - Pat & Danelle O’Hagan

“Thank you for making the celebration of Trish’s birthday a truly memorable celebration. Your arrival at the London Club came as an absolute surprise and added to the moment greatly as can be attested to by Trish’s reaction. The fact that you personally delivered the ring to us at the Club on a Saturday night, taking time away from your family (who were ill) really crystallizes the level of customer commitment that the Nash name has always reflected. It continues to reflect why the Nash brand leads the market in customer service. Thanks again for making this such a special event!” - Al MacKinnon

“We have been customers of Nash Jewellers since 2000 and the quality of their products and services are the best in the city of London”. - David Wu

“Whether I have gone in looking to buy a gift for someone or a piece for myself, the team at Nash’s has always exceeded my expectations. They have worked within my budget, let me run with my creative ideas and provided me things that I am proud to wear.” - Michael Bechard

“We have been clients of Nash’s for years. We keep coming back to Nash’s because we trust that we can consistently count on them for extraordinary personal service, exquisite quality of merchandise, excep-tional expertise and advice and fair and competitive pricing. The Nash family and team make us feel that our complete satisfaction is essential to them every time we are welcomed to their store. We would not hesitate to recommend Colin and his team to anyone making a purchase of fine jewelry when quality and service counts!” - Cathy and Michael Dale

“The Dundas location is worth a visit in. The history of the century old building, with the museum of gems and artifacts, is worth seeing. Dealing with knowledgeable gemologists gives you the comfort that any piece you purchase is not only pristine, but is a valuable collection that will become part of your own family legacy.” - Ken &Nikki Eansor

Community InvolvementNash Jewellers is a part of many associations and committees in the business and jeweller’s industry.

The Canadian Jewellers Association is the trusted voice in Canada. Jewellers and jewellery stores pledge every year to uphold the CJA Code of Ethics so that you can shop with confidence.

American Gem Society members are knowledgeable and credentialed experts in gems and jewellery. They adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards.

The Better Business Bureau of the United States and Canada offers consumers and businesses resources including business and charity reviews, complaints, statistics, ratings, and more to assist in intelligent buying decisions and invest-ment opportunities.

Canadian diamond stakeholders are committed to ensure that diamonds represented as Canadian can be authenticated to protect themselves against deceptive practices that may erode consumer confidence and at the same time ensure compliance with the Competition Act.

Because diamonds are so valuable, it’s essential to have a universal grading system for comparing their quality. In the 1940s and ’50s, GIA developed the 4Cs and the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ to objectively compare and evaluate diamonds.

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee was formed in 1912 to provide education and self-regulation to the jewellery industry. Members operate under the highest standards of business practice after pledging to comply with all laws applicable to the jewellery industry and make accurate representations about the products they sell.
