A REVIEW Y ou recently at tended a three-d ay festival in your city and have b een asked to write a review for a local entertainments magazine commenting on the events and !erforman ces that took !lace and saying how successful you think the festival was in attracting visitors to the city" #eamington $!a - Annual $ummer %estival &his year's summer festival has clearly been a ma(or succes s" Visitors from far and wide arrived in droves to see the live bands art e)hibitions *lms and theatre !erformances in various venues all over the town and to admire the goods available at the numerous crafts stalls" &he idea to e)!and the annual festival into a ma(or three-day event came about as the result of much consideration as to how to im!rove the town's image as a cultural centre both in this country and abroad" Among the !erformers this year !erha!s the biggest attraction were +esert ,aravan who on the third day !layed to an astounding crowd of almost three thousand !eo!le" &he enthusiasm and e)citement was almost tangible as the band went on to !erform several of their greatest and best-known hits" ther less well-known bands such as ny) and .aria &em!est also gave !erformances which were very well attended" ther crowd-!ulling events included a !oetry recital by local bards a screening at the town hall of a short *lm called $erenity directed by $usanna .c/ill a *lm director who hails from the area and an o!en-air !erformance of William $hakes!eare's A .idsummer 0ight's +ream ably mounted and acted by the $tratford-u!on-Avon Y outh +rama ,lub" As well as these live events and !erformance s there was a dis!lay of various arts and crafts at stalls and o!en-air galleries in the !arks" &he em!hasis her e was on encouraging t raditional arts and cr afts and it certainly was an im!ressive dis!lay with a wide selection of artwork for sale" In addition there were children's events !u!!et shows fair ground rides and circus !erformers including (ugglers and acrobats not to mention an e)travagant *r eworks dis!lay each evening culminating in a grand *nale at midnight of day three" All in all the festival was an enormous success and organisers are already making !lans for ne)t year's festival which they ho!e to hold together with the neighbouring town of War wick in an e1ort to attract even more international interest for our town" I wish those involved every success" We will all bene*t from it"
