Objectives of the Programme:

The course is designed basically to identify and study the current challenging issues in

AUTOMOBILE industries. Moreover, it will also highlight the application of

CAD/CAM/CAE –Nx CAD, CAM, CAE, PLM, etc. Siemens soft wares to solve burning

issues and to achieve result oriented cost effective solution for AUTOMOBILE sector.

Provide sound knowledge in concept design and production design of

Automotive Components.

Improve skills involved in creating Automotive Components design concepts.

Provide knowledge about Computer Aided Sheet metal design.

Working with model analysis process, advance simulation and Meshing.

Learning Basics of thermal and flow analysis using computational method.

Course Content: Overview of all stages of designing automobile body from sketch to Product.

Concept design of automotive component.

Computer aided sheet metal design using NX.

Model analysis process, advance simulation and Meshing

Introduction of thermal and flow analysis, Preprocessing, Post processing and

result mapping using CAE.

Inaugural Function

Short Term Training Program on “Design Essentials and Analysis of automotive

components” Organized by Mechanical and Automobile Engineering Department at L.D.

College of Engineering Ahmedabad from 07TH Nov, 2016 to 11th Nov, 2016 at COE Center,

Workshop, L.D. college of Engineering Campus Ahmedabad.

Around 30 delegates comprising of faculties from various engineering colleges across Gujarat

participated in this program. The programme was inaugurated on 07th November, 2016 at

10:00am by Dr. G. P. Vadodaria (Principal, LDCE) in presence of, Dr. Nishith Bhatt (GM Design

Tech Limited), and other dignitaries by prayer. All the dignitaries have delivered motivational

and inspirational speech to all participants.

Glims of an Inauguration Function

Summary of the Programme Registration of all the participants for this STTP was started at 9.30 a.m. on 7th

November 2016 and given training kits.

Expert Lectures:

-Mr. Vivek Chondagar from National Institute of Design had delivered a lecture on

the Basics of Automotive Component Design-Sketch to Product. He had conduct

Workshop on Automobile Styling on 7th November.

-Prof. (Dr.) B.A.Modi from Nirma University had delivered lecture on Sheet Metal

Design with respect to manufacturing aspects with concern of automobile on 9th

November.

-Mr. Jignaesh Vdalia ( Technical Manager, Bluechip Infocorp) had delivered lecture

on Computational Fluid Dynamics with case study of automobile on 11th

November.

Lecture/Workshop conducted By Siemens-Designtech Trainers:

During One week training the participants were given keen knowledge about following

topics. By Siemens-Designtech Trainers:

- Sheet Metal Design and workflow using NX software

- Introduction and working with advanced simulation

- Preprocessing–Geometry Preparation-3D/2D Meshing-Boundary Condition in NX

-Thermal and Flow analysis for automotive components using NX software

-Coupled Thermal flow analysis and result mapping using NX

Participants were also given hands on practice NX9 Software about Thermal and flow

analysis with the help of trainers from DesignTech systems.

Valedictory Function

All the participants have taken sincere interest to learn Design and analysis of automotive components throughout week with four sessions each day. The program ended with the valedictory speech by Convener and Mr. Jignesh ( Khodiyar CAD center )and coordinator of the program and distribution of the certificates to the participants. Also, some of the participants gave their feedback about the training programme.
