Davies, organized under a law of the State of New York, entitled "An Act toauthorize the embodying and equipment of a Volunteer Militia, and to provide for the Public Defense," passed April 16, 1861 ,and called into the service of the United States by the President, under the act of Congress, approved February 28, 1795, fromthe 1 5th day of May, 1861, (date of this muster) for the term of two years, unless sooner discharged.
