Dear Denver-Centennial IMA Chapter Members: I am a little late in writing my last letter, but we just got wonderful news – our Chapter has won 9th Place in the Stevenson Division against over 125 other chapters in our size category. As you know we will be recognizing this accomplishment at the 89th Annual Conference & Expo at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona where our award will be accepted by Patti Simmers, incoming Presi-dent in June. Based on enthusiastic response to our new location at the Holiday Inn Select in Cherry Creek North, the board requested I renew the contract for another year. This has been done and a list of the meeting datesis included I this newsletter. Dinner meeting attendance was up 11% this year but you know there is always room for more and the hotel can accommodate a bigger crowd so please spread the word and bring your co-workers in the com-ing year. The board worked very hard to bring you as many opportunities for earning CPE as possible by adding educa-tional events this past year. We had a total of 12 speakers for CPE including the joint breakfast with the TMA, plus the Social and a wonderful plant tour at NREL. We have already started booking speakers for the new year and we will publish those as soon as they are known. Thank you for letting me serve you and I look forward to a continuing relationship with all of you, either in per-son or via email. Please remember the importance of maintaining your professional skills and advancing your career by being involved with continuing ed events and by becoming a CMA. Please call me if you have any questions on getting started on your CMA study program. Please put this upcoming CPE event on your calendar: • Rocky Mountain Area Conference. Earn 16 CPE (INCLUDING ETHICS)

September 28-29, 2007 at the Arvada Center. Continued from cover_________________________________________________________________________ • What dollar cost averaging means

• Pros/cons to new lifecycle/Lifestyle funds;

• Obtaining/buying alpha: the new hot topic and what it means;

• Explain the various investments instruments, such as hedge funds, ETF’s (what are they, how they differ from index funds, pros/cons)

• How to ensure we’re investing enough for our retirement especially given social security may not be available, and pensions are no longer provided by companies.

Alan sits on the national investment committee for Clifton Gunderson Financial Services, an affiliate of Clifton Gunderson LLP, the 13th largest CPA firm in the U.S. He is currently a member of the FPA and also serves the community through his commitment to non-profit organizations.
