Dear Well wisher,

“Greenlife Charitable Trust (Regd.)”came into being when a fewphilanthropic and dynamic employees ofBanking sector, Indian Railways and fewparents of disabled children put theirideas and efforts together to lend ahelping hand to the young disabledchildren. The development andhealthcare of fellow human beings of ournation is the foremost concern of theTrust with emphasis on children andyouth with Cerebral Palsy (poorbalance - difficulty in sitting, standing, walking and with rigid muscles) andother childhood disabilities.

TheTrust runs twoschools atKottayam andPalai andtogether have atotal strengthof 46 children.Due to non-accessibility anddeprivement of a structuredtraining environment, manychildren with childhooddisabilities are not able todevelop their abilities and skillsto live as a potential humanbeing in the society. Today it isseen that a good number ofboys & girls with CerebralPalsy and other disabilities areleading a sociallydisadvantaged life both atmicro and macro levels. Theparents of these children areconstantly worried about theirward’s future and security.

A Dedicated MotherSpeical Education department ofJyothis School is headed by LaibyDony, a trust member. Being themother of a Cerebral palsied childshe is well aware of the basic needsof the children attending theschool and draws up thecurriculum for each child. HerB.Ed qualification and teachingexperience at St. Anne’s School,Kottayam brings out in her the qualities of a proficient teacher. Herparental affection surpassed her teaching career and she quit her jobwhen she was gifted with a special child. At Jyothis her wish of workingas a teacher and being with her child is fulfilled as she is the SpecialEducation teacher catering to all those differently abled children. Herinclination to give the children the best training programmes inspiredher to attend a Special training at the ‘Achievement of Human PotentialInstitute’ run by Dr. Glen Doman in Philadelphia, USA.Her dedication to Jyothis and the disabled community does not end here. She was also instrumental in making the building for Jyothis a reality bydonating the land for construction. Her association and contributions toJyothis will continue as the Head of the School.

Disability is ability in disguise.Computer, toys and other teaching materialswill be managed by Manjith John, who is over17 years and is differently abled because ofCerebral Palsy . Son of a Trust member JosephJohn Chery, Manjith works in the office ofJyothis School. The training at the school hashelped him to overcome most of hispsychological problems and he is ratherproud of the fact that his contribution toJyothis is valued. The school’s aim to bringthe differently abled children to the society’smain stream is reflected through Manjith.
