8 Comfort me in your goodness, O God, *and in your tender loving-kindness.

A Reading from 1 Thessalonians [3:9-13] Read in Spanish.

How can we thank God enough for you inreturn for all the joy that we feel beforeour God because of you? Night and day

we pray most earnestly that we may see youface to face and restore whatever is lacking inyour faith. Now may our God and Fatherhimself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to

you. And may the Lord make you increase andabound in love for one another and for all, justas we abound in love for you. And may he sostrengthen your hearts in holiness that you maybe blameless before our God and Father at thecoming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

Lector: Oiga lo que el Espíritu está diciendo al pueblo de Dios.Pueblo: Demos gracias a Dios.

Sequence Music The people may stand.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel [Luke 21:25-36]

Deacon: The Holy Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ according to Luke.People: Glory to you, O Christ.

Jesus said, “There will be signs in the sun, themoon, and the stars, and on the earthdistress among nations confused by theroaring of the sea and the waves. People will

faint from fear and foreboding of what is comingupon the world, for the powers of the heavenswill be shaken. Then they will see ‘the Son ofMan coming in a cloud’ with power and greatglory. Now when these things begin to takeplace, stand up and raise your heads, becauseyour redemption is drawing near.” Then he toldthem a parable: “Look at the fig tree and all thetrees; as soon as they sprout leaves you can seefor yourselves and know that summer is already

near. So also, when you see these things takingplace, you know that the kingdom of God isnear. Truly I tell you, this generation will notpass away until all things have taken place.Heaven and earth will pass away, but my wordswill not pass away. Be on guard so that yourhearts are not weighed down with dissipationand drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day catch you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face ofthe whole earth. Be alert at all times, prayingthat you may have the strength to escape allthese things that will take place, and to standbefore the Son of Man.”

Deacon: The Gospel of Jesus Christ.People: Praise to you, O Christ.

The Sermon Please be seated.

Preacher: The Rev. Rosanna Kazanjian

A period of silence follows the Sermon, marked with meditation bell.

The Nicene Creed The people may stand.

The Nicene Creed is a historical statement of faith used by the early Christian community to define orthodoxy. Please join us as you feel called.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son]. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

supplement to The Book of Common Prayer, Church Publishing, Inc.

Celebrant: God is with us.People: God is present here.Celebrant: Rejoice! Lift up your hearts.People: We lift our hearts to the Most High.Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Holy One.People: It is right to offer thanks and praise.

Celebrant:

We praise you and we bless you, holy and gracious God, source of life abundant. From before timeyou made ready the creation. Your Spirit moved over the deep and brought all things into being:sun, moon, and stars; earth, winds, and waters; and every living thing. You made us in your image, and taught us to walk in your ways. But we rebelled against you, and wandered far away; and yet,as a mother cares for her children, you would not forget us. Time and again you called us to livein the fullness of your love. And so this day we join with Saints and Angels in the chorus of praisethat rings through eternity, lifting our voices to magnify you as we say:

People and Celebrant:

Holy, holy, holy God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is the one who comes in the name of God.Hosanna in the highest.

All continue:

Glory and honor and praise to you, holy and living God.To deliver us from the power of sin and deathand to reveal the riches of your grace, you looked with favor upon Mary, your willing servant, that she might conceive and bear a son,Jesus the holy child of God.

Celebrant:

Living among us, Jesus loved us. He broke bread with outcasts and sinners, healed the sick, andproclaimed good news to the poor. He yearned to draw all the world to himself yet we wereheedless of his call to walk in love. Then, the time came for him to complete upon the cross thesacrifice of his life, and to be glorified by you.

At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or lay a hand upon it; and at thewords concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing the wine tobe consecrated.

On the night before he died for us, Jesus was at table with his friends. He took bread, gave thanksto you, broke it, and gave it to them, and said:

“Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine. Again, he gave thanks to you, gave it to them, and said:

“Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for you and forall for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

People and Celebrant:

Now gathered at your table, O God of all creation, and remembering Christ, crucified and risen, who was and is and is to come,we offer to you our gifts of bread and wine, and ourselves, a living sacrifice.

Celebrant:

Pour out your Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Body and Blood of Christ. Breathe yourSpirit over the whole earth and make us your new creation, the Body of Christ given for the worldyou have made. In the fullness of time bring us, with Paul, James Huntington, Isaac Watts,

Now we take up the song of hope that we might awaken to his coming among us and the worldbe touched by the footfall of his glory:

Sanctus (Holy)

All continue

Glory and honor and praise to you, holy and living God. To deliver us from the powerof sin and death and to reveal the riches of your grace, you looked with favor uponMary, your willing servant, that she might conceive and bear a son, Jesus the holy childof God.

Celebrant:Living among us, Jesus loved us.

He took bread, gave thanksto you, broke it, and gave it to them, and said: “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you.Do this for the remembrance of me.”

As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine. Again, he gave thanks to you, gave it to them, and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for youand for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

People and Celebrant:

Now gathered at your table, O God of all creation, and remembering Christ, crucifiedand risen, who was and is and is to come, we offer to you our gifts of bread and wine, and ourselves, a living sacrifice.

Celebrant:

+Pour out your Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Body and Blood of Christ. Breathe yourSpirit over the whole earth and make us your new creation, the Body of Christ given for the worldyou have made.

MEMORIAL GARDEN RENEWAL!

Grace St. Paul’s Memorial Garden was created in 2000 and since then, many parishionershave chosen the garden as the place of remembrance for a loved one. Over the years thelandscaping has aged and deteriorated to the point that it no longer reflects the ultimatelevel of respect and honor we hold for this sacred place. Plans are underway to revitalizethe Memorial Garden, beginning with new plants and crushed granite ground cover.Returning the garden to the highest degree of beauty, respect, and contemplation requiresfunding that is not in our budget. Your gifts to the general fund will assist in making thisrevitalization happen.

Note: A new section of single and double burial niches is now available for purchase orreservation.

For more information on the Niche Wall or the renewal project of the Memorial Garden, please call the office or Bill Moore, 757-876-7373.

Kiosk? What’s That?

It’s that little machine that looks like an iPad, the one in the narthex of the church…and…itis there to help you make your financial giving to GSP so much easier.

Remember, you can make a one-time gift, indicate your new financial intentions for 2015,and make regular contributions through your friendly Kiosk. If you’re unsure how it works, just ask. Try it—you’ll like it!

Coffee Hour HospitalityWe’d like to make coffee hour self-supporting. Your donations of food and any monetarycontributions you make can help offset the costs of condiments and paper products.

Coffee and light refreshments are offered on Sundays at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in McBride Hall. Wehave wonderfully generous members and talented bakers and we want to take advantage of both. So, in an effort to have the wealth spread evenly across the various Sundays each month, we’ll askfolks to provide goodies based on the first letter in their last names:

! The first Sunday of each month: last names that begin with letters A–F

! The second Sunday of each month: last names that begin with letters G–L

! The third Sunday of each month: last names that begin with letters M–R

! The fourth Sunday of each month: last names that begin with letters S–Z

Our hope is that, by providing some sort of schedule, we will have something delicious to offerconsistently every Sunday. Let’s have a feast every week! Of course, anyone inspired to share goodfood on additional Sundays is welcome to do so. If you have any questions, please contact KathyAllen, the chair of the Coffee Hour Hospitality ministry, at 327-4448.
