Venice is one of those destinations that seems to have been createdfrom a dream: spectacular sunsets lighting upthe white façades of Piazza San Marco with fieryhues; the sound of water gently lapping againstthe marble-lined canals; gondoliers singingon the lagoon. Over four days, our programfocuses on the highlights and hidden treasuresof Venice, at a time when it is less crowdedwith tourists. Later, we travel into the Venetoregion to marvel at the Palladian villas nearVicenza, view Giotto’s moving frescoes in Padua, and soak up spectacular alpine vistas in Asolo.Make the dream a reality and join us in 2019!

PA U L A F I N D L E N was first introduced to Venice about 30 years ago when she first began to live in Italy and study its history. “Venice just seems like a city that should no longer exist—and yet it does! Its unique history, distinctive art and architecture, and great cultural traditions made me want to return repeatedly over the years,” she says. During our program, Findlen plans to discuss Marco Polo and the birth of Venice, the lives of men and women in the Renaissance city, and the end of the empire and the birth of tourism.
