(Romans 8:26-27 ESV) My mother recently used the phrase "praying in the Spirit." When she said that I realized praying about what I should be praying about or how the Holy Spirit can guide me in what I pray for hasn’t really been on my radar until lately. But I’ve found it’s a way to let him lead me and to truly wait and listen for his guidance. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV) “Pray without ceasing.” If I am constantly in prayer, I'll be in the Holy Spirit more as well. What a good mindset I’d have if I was talking to God 24/7! Look then what God has given us: not just the opportunity to speak to Him whenever, but guidance through the Holy Spirit in that prayer. My thoughts can be a jumbled, incomprehensible mess, yet my Father will hear and understand me. Most of my jumble comes from worry, confusion, and other unnecessary things anyway; that’s where verse 28 should kick in: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) Silly me. Why did I worry? He’s got it under control. He’s given me a way to seek his guidance. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7 ESV)
