Today, in our bible story,We will be hearing about some girlsWho were waiting ready with their lamps.In our prayers of praise,We shall think about lamps and light. Let us pray

Lord, You are the lightAnd in You there is no

darkness at all.

Let us now think of a car’s headlights.They show us where to go,Lighting up the way ahead.Lord, we praise YouBecause You are always there to

guide us.

You give us Your wordTo help us make decisions;You sent Jesus to show us how to live;You give us Your Holy SpiritTo be with us all the time.Lord, You are the lightAnd in You there is no darkness at

Let us think now of a torch,Taken into a dusty dirty shed or cellar.By its light, we see all the cobwebs And the dirt.Lord, we praise YouBecause You see us so clearly.

You know when we make mistakesAnd get things wrong,And yet You still love us.Lord, You are the lightAnd in You there is no darkness at

all.

Now let us think of one of those lampsCarried by a girl in the story.It would be a little oil lamp,With quite a small flame;Yet what a difference it would make to the

darkest night.

We are never alone.However difficult or scary things may seem,You are always there beside us,And You have promised never to leave us.Lord, You are the lightAnd in You there is no
