Critical Illness Plans
With the advancement in medical technology and treatment, people are living longer and once deadly diseases are being controlled and cured. One way your employees can shield themselves and their dependents from the economic consequences of critical illness is to purchase a critical illness policy, which pays a lump sum benefit (paid directly to the employee, or a beneficiary) when they are diagnosed with critical conditions such as heart attack, stroke, organ transplant, Alzheimer’s disease and end stage renal failure. There is no direct employer cost. This benefit is underwritten by American Heritage Life.*
Critical illness policies can help fill in gaps in medical coverage, and address direct and indirect expenses:
• Lost income
• Child care
• Travel expenses
• Prescription drugs
• Mortgage payments
• Home health care
Complete descriptions, including the limitations and exclusions, can be found in Policy Form CILP1 and Rider Forms WBR5 and CICR1, or state variations thereof.
