The Kiyomizu Kannon-do hall formerly stood on the west side of the bridge. This circuit-style garden around the pond in Daimyo's mansion was built by the Mito Tokugawa family in 1629. It is designated as a national special historic site and scenic spot. The rich, undulated topography of this piece of land is put to best use. The beautiful garden imitates scenic spots like 'oceans, mountains, rivers and countryside' from Japan and China depicting the harmony between the two countries. It exhibits garden art reflecting the combination of natural beauty and man-made wonders. This building was the residence of the former Prime Minister of Japan, Ichiro Hatoyama and played an important part in post-war politics. Constructed over 95 years ago, the Western- style building is characterized by its stained glass windows and rosebushes that conveys the atmosphere of the Taisho period. Feel the history and politics through the displayed mementos and family treasures of four generations of the Hatoyama family. Different varieties of roses bloom in May and October, including the 'Peace', which Ichiro loved . The building called 'Shoseikaku,' located in the Japanese garden that puts the sloping woods to best use, was once used as a school by the Hosokawa Family. Besides the open-to-public observatory 'Japanese camellia' on the second floor and the tea house 'Tsubaki' on the first floor, we also have assembly rooms that can be used for cultural activities including tea ceremonies on reservation basis. Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo has been engaged in a variety of activities including support for emerging and mid-career artists. It holds various exhibitions that aim to give opportunities to show their works for emerging artists and ‘The exhibition of Artists-in-Residence’ by Japanese and international artists who participated in TOKAS residency programs. It also conducts an ‘International Cultural Exchange Program’ and several projects planned by contemporary artists. The organized exhibitions held two or three times a year introduce Chinese culture from different points of view, including traditional folk and fine arts, and contempo- rary arts. Events such as production demonstrations, museum concerts, and workshops are planned. When organized exhibitions are not held, the venue is rented for various events which are not necessarily related to China. The fifth Tokugawa shogun, Tsunayoshi, constructed this Confucian temple in 1690, and a state-run school, Shoheizaka Academic Center or Shoheiko, was established here in 1797. In the Edo era, the temple was respected as the headquarters for academics and education. The Yushima Seido burned down in the Great Kanto earthquake, but was rebuilt in 1935 and is now conserved and managed by Public Interest Incorporated Association Shibunkai. Our museum was planned as part of commemorative projects to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo and the University of Tokyo Hospital. It was opened in January 2011, and was moved in April 2019. We have three exhibition areas. The vermillion-lacquered bridge resembles the Tsuten-kyo Bridge at Tōfuku-ji Temple in Kyoto Higashiyama.

Constructed over 95 years ago, the Western-style building is characterized by its stained glass windows and rosebushes that conveys the atmosphere of the Taisho period.

The organized exhibitions held two or three times a year introduce Chinese culture from different points of view, including traditional folk and fine arts, and contempo-rary arts.

The permanent exhibition is a display of the achievements and history, while other exhibitions are introductions of the advances in the medical science and medical care.
