A Pictorial Review of the Aero Challenge 2017.
Elliott Paterson doubled up to win his second Aero Challenge Championship with a perfect 110 points and Class ‘B’ victory in his ARV6.
Keith Ahlers dominated Class ’A’ in the V8 he has owned and raced for thirty years, taking nine outright wins and fastest laps. Racing his Morgan SLR in the European Masters Series
meant he missed a number of rounds, however, Class victory in the Masters made it worthwhile.
Andrew Thompson was left to clinch the runner-‐up spot in Class ‘B’ behind runaway winner
Elliott Paterson, taking a single Class win.
Class ‘C’ fell to Phillip Tisdall, who also scooped the ‘Most Points’ prize, and was close to matching Elliott for the overall title.
Small entries hampered his challenge.
With ten wins, Brett Syndercombe claimed Class ‘D’ with a string of consistent races.
The Brands Hatch Morgan entered car looked good in it’s Dark Green livery.
Michele Bailey in the car she shares with Hubby, Chris, claimed five class wins, often with little or no opposition to ensure she is
Class E Champion.
Tom Dailey won Class ‘H’, a total of eight wins being sufficient to scoop
the honours ahead of Kelvin Laidlaw. With less than three cars contesting the class points were in short supply.
With his distinctive yellow 4/4, Tim Parsons mounted a serious attack on the outright Aero Championship, before a troubled time at the Bentley Drivers Club Meeting left him just too much to make up.
Consolation was nine Class ‘R’ wins.
Three other drivers each scored an overall win during the season. Russell Paterson at Cadwell Park, Ollie Bryant at the BDC Silverstone, and
Roger Whiteside at Donington.
John Bevan wheeled out his trusty 4/4 for one last blast to win Class ‘I’ with two wins at Silverstone before switching to
the ex-‐Simon Scott Roadster.
The season started at Snetterton in April, and ended at the same place In September, visiting Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park,
Cadwell Park and Donington in between. Well done to Elliott Paterson on his second Aero Challenge Crown.
Can anyone stop him making it a treble? Maybe Ferrari will Offer him a drive ....................!
