Să învățăm despre sfinți
In Biserica Ortodoxă sfinții sunt clasați în diferite categorii potrivit
virtuților lor. În acest sezon în care cinstim categorii de sfinți este
nu doar educational ci și inspirant să recitim aceste clasificări.

Mărturisitor – cineva care a suferit pentru credință dar nu a fost
martirizat.
Luminător- cel care a adus credința pentru prima data într-o
regiune.
Întocmai-cu-Apostolii - cel care a săvîrșit lucrări mari ca să
promoveze Biserica.
Nebun pentru Hristos – un sfînt cunoscut pentru aparenta sa
nebunie pentru Hristos.
Purtător de Dumnezeu – titlu dăruit unor Sfinți Părinți
Mare Mucenic – cineva care a fost torturat și a murit pentru
Hristos.
Tămăduitor – un sfânt cu puteri vindecătoare
Hiero- mărturisitor – cleric care a suferit martiraj.
Mucenic – credincios care a murit pentru credință.
Femei Mironosițe – femei martore ale Învierii Domnului
Izvorâtor de mir – un sfânt ale cărui moaște izvorăsc un ulei
aromat
Nou-mucenic – un mucenic cu același nume ca alt sfînt mai vechi
Proroc – sfânt din vechiul Testament care a anticipat pe Hristos
Protomartir- un prim mucenic intr-o anumită regiune
Drept – sfânt din Vechiul Testament sau sfânt căsătorit
Sfânt-fără-de-arginți – tămăduitor caritabil
Cuvios – sfânt monah
Cuvios mucenic – monah martirizat
Fecioară Mucenică – monahie fecioară, ucisă pentru Hristos
Făcător de minuni – un sfânt renumit pentru minunile sale
Pentru rugăciunile sfinților Tăi, Doamne Iisus Hristoase, miluiește-
ne și ne mântuiește pe noi!
Let’s Learn about the Saints
In the Orthodox Church the saints are qualified in several categories
according to their virtues. At this time when we honor the saints, it is
not only educational but it is also inspiring to revisit these

Confessor: one who has suffered for the faith but not martyred
outright.
Enlightener: the saint who first brought the faith to a people or
region
Equal-to-the-Apostles: one whose work greatly built up the
Church.
Fool-for-Christ: a saint known for his apparent, yet holy insanity
God-bearing: title given to one of the Holy Fathers
Great-martyr: one who was martyred for the faith and suffered
torture
Healer: a saint who used the power of God to heal maladies and
injuries
Hieroconfessor: a confessor who is also a clergyman
Hieromartyr: a martyr who is also a clergyman
Martyr: one who has died for the faith
Merciful: one known for charitable work
Myrrhbearers: women who witnessed the Resurrection of Jesus.
Myrrh-streaming: a saint whose relics exude holy and sweet-
smelling oil
New-martyr: a martyr often bearing the same name as a more
ancient martyr.
Prophet: an Old Testament saint who anticipated Christ
Protomartyr: the first martyr in a given region (in the case of
Stephen the Protomartyr.
Righteous: a holy person under the Old Covenant (Old Testament)
but also sometimes used for married saints of the New
Covenant (the Church).
Unmercenary Healer: a saint who used the power of God to heal
maladies and injuries without charge
Venerable: a monastic saint
Venerable-martyr: a martyred monastic
Virgin martyr: an unmarried, non-monastic, chaste female martyr
Wonder-worker: a saint renowned for performing miracles
Through the prayers of your saints, O Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy
on us and save us!

During the month of July there will be no vespers on
Saturday evenings. We will resume Vespers on August
3rd. For confessions, please, call our office to schedule an
appointment with Father.

hours on July 5th at 9 am.
Celebration
This year, on June 29,
Father Remus Grama will
observe 39 years since he
was ordained a deacon by
Metropolitan Nicolae of
Transylvania. On August 15, Father and P-sa Elena will
commemorate 30 years since they were assigned by His
Eminence Archbishop NATHANIEL to serve our church.

Let us Love and Care for Our Church!
Even when we are on vacations our church continues
to have expenses and needs. For this reason we ask
each one of you to please send your regular donations
during the summer months. We thank you and we pray
for all our members.
Be a Member of the Church!
To be a parish member one must be of the Orthodox
Faith, receive the Holy Sacraments and contribute to
the expenses of the church. Our annual membership
dues are $200/single, adult member. An adult is
anyone age 18 and over. Most of our members know
that this is not enough to keep the church open and
functional. For this reason, we rely on your
contributions, donations and participation in parish
activities. May God help you and grant you the joy of
being a giver, becasue “It is more blessed to give than
to receive!”

UNIVERSAL DAY OF THE ROMANIAN BLOUSE
PICTURES Last Sunday, some ladies of our parish proudly worn beautiful Romanian Blouses (costumes) to celebrate the Universal IE Day. Our photographer, Greg Sotak took a few pictures to imortalize this moment of our heritage culture (see below). Whomever is intrested to purchase a print photo, please contact Mr. Sotak on Sunday, after the Liturgy; or our Secretary, during the parish office hours.

Duminica trecută, unele doamne (re) din parohia noastră
au purtat cu mândrie minunate bluze românești
(costume) pentru a sărbători Ziua Universală a IEI.
Fotograful nostru, Greg Sotak, a făcut câteva fotografii
pentru a imortaliza acest moment al culturii noastre
românești (vezi mai sus). Oricine este interesat să
achiziționeze o fotografie tipărită, vă rugăm să îl
contactați pe domnul Sotak, duminica după Liturghie;
sau secretara noastră, în timpul orelor de lucru.

Cleveland Romanian Community Plans
Participation in the 74th Annual
ONE WORLD DAY - August 25th, 2019
Every year, at the end of August, Cleveland’s ethnic
communities take part in the ONE WORLD DAY
festival in the University Circle. Martin Luther King
Blvd. will be filled by parades, displays, cultural
programs and culinary manifestations and every group
will take pride in their heritage. For a few years, our
priest and our church invested energy and heart to
arrive to have had the largest participation in 2018.
The Romanians are brought together by The
Romanian Forum (presided by Lucian Fogoros) and
the Friends of the Cultural Garden (presided by
George Cantor). The clergy of our churches are
fundamentally important to bring so many energies
together. A planning meeting took place at Saint Mary
Cathedral this past week. Another meeting will be
announced for July. Mihaela Hetruc, who organized
past similar events coordinates a good synchronizing
of the churches. This year, the event will be hosted by
the members of Saint Elena Greek Catholic Church in
cooperation with Carpatina Society. Beside them, all
churches will participate in the parade and program.
Please, plan ahead to be there. Mark this event in your
calendar. For the COSTUME PARADE, please
contact Ms. Mihaela Hetruc.

the 115th Anniversary of saint Mary Cathedral and our parishioners who celebrate their anniversary in multiple of 5. Our Archbishop NATHANIEL will be with us to bless an unforgettable milestone.

ISTORIOARE DUHOVNICEȘTI
PENTRU COPII
”Ambasadorul”
- Știți voi copii, ce este un
ambasador?
- Da, au răspuns ei, este un
reprezentant oficial al unei
țări în altă țară cu scopul de
a întreține bune relații cu
acea țară.
- Foarte bun răspunsul. Dar
dacă o țară îl respinge pe
ambasador, ce e de făcut?
Se iau măsuri suplimentare
pe linie diplomatică să fie
reprimit. Dacă el este
reprimit atunci în toată țara
este o mare bucurie.
Ei copii, tot așa este și în cer. Pentru Dumnezeu un om
este tot atât de valoros cât o țară. Fiecare copil botezat
primește din cer câte un înger. Acesta este ambasadorul
Cerului pe lâncă acel copil care îl sfătuiește să păzească
poruncile date de Dumnezeu lui Moise, adică să nu fure, să
nu mintă, să nu fumeze, să nu se îmbete, să se ducă la
Biserică duminica și în sărbători, să facă rugăciuni seara și
dimineața, să țină post, să facă fapte de milostenie la săraci,
la văduve, la bolnavi, să facă pomenire pentru morți. Așa îl
învață îngerul să aibă relații bune cu Cerul.
Dacă copilul respinge sfaturile îngerului păzitor și nu
ascultă de el, face voia satanei (ambasadorul neoficial din
partea iadului), adică nu ascultă de părinți, fumează, minte,
fură din casă sau de la colegi, drăcuie, se îmbată, se duce la
alte secte religioase necanonice, se droghează, nu merge la
Biserică, hulește preoții, pe Maica Domnului.
Acum ambasadorul Cerului este respins în totalitate de
către copil.
În această situație se fac eforturi suplimentare pentru a
primi pe îngerul păzitor prin necazuri din ce în ce mai mari,
pagube, îmbolnăviri, până când vine omul la credință, se
spovedește, se împărtășește, merge la Biserică și astfel
satana pleacă.
Mare bucurie se face în cer pentru omul care se
mântuiește.

Sunday School, Joys and Struggles
While our students are now on vacation, Saint Mary’s
Sunday School teachers met with their Priest to plan
ahead next school year. We shared joys, successes and
difficulties encountered last year and likewise, means
and ways to overcome them. The apathy of the families,
the lack of involvement of some parents and the lack of
commitment tend to overpower occasionally those who
endeavor to make our program a success. Father invites
those parents who have school age children to become
involved as volunteers as teachers and fund-raisers in
the Parents Club. Mihaela Todos accepted to continue as
Sunday School Coordinator and Carmen Diaconu as
Parents Club President. Both of them are pretty new in
their office, but with the continued help of our secretary,
Mihaela Hetruc, they succeeded to keep the program
running. We invite anyone interested to contact them or
talk to Father Remus Grama. He always reminds us that
our school will always be only as good as each and all
of us are.
Sunday School Year 2019-2020
The new school year will begin on September 15 and
the registration will be on September 8.
Camp Vatra for Seniors
June 30th - July 13th
CAMP VATRA for Juniors
Father will volunteer as chaplain during the
Junior Session, between July 21-27.

GRANDMA’S ATTIC RUMMAGE SALE
As part of our festival this year, we are
asking you to donate gently-used household
items in good condition for Grandma’s
Attic Sale. The items will be
sold during our 3-day festival, so please
start gathering!
Here’s what we’re looking for:
*Glassware, dishes, pots & pans in good condition, kitchen
utensils
*Books/DVDs/VHS tapes/CDs
*Small appliances/tools/electronics in working condition
*Paintings, posters, artwork, photo frames
*Baby items, toys, dolls, games & puzzles with no pieces
missing
*Decorative items *Vases *Baskets
*Costume jewelry
* Holiday decorations
* Comforters, quilts, blankets (must be cleaned)
NO CLOTHES, NO SHOES, NO BEDDING SHEETS, NO
TOWELS
Please start bringing in your items to the church office during
the week; if you bring them on a Sunday, please place them in
bags and leave in the cultural building kitchen.

Veți călători în Romania în această vară?
Dacă mergeți, vă rugăm să aduceți și să ne donați suvenire. Toate vor fi puse spre vânzare pe
perioada festivalului. Vă sugerăm următoarele obiecte: costume populare românești ori piese
separate (ii sau cămeși toate mărimile, brâuri, fote/fuste, poale, baticuri de lână, opinci, etc.),
albume turistice cu fotografii ale reliefului și a clădirilor istorice, iteme religioase, etc.
