It was a very different year, but we made the best out of the situation! It is nice to see all of the hard working 4-Hers, their fair projects, and

their wonderful support systems throughout the week. We could not do what we do for our youth without the help of superintendents, Fair Board,

Youth Committee, 4-H leaders, FFA leaders, 4-H youth, FFA youth, parents and general volunteers throughout fair week. It takes an army to put on a

great fair but we have the best support system in Fremont County. Be Proud! Thank you all!

Why Do a Record Book???

The purpose of 4-H record keeping is to

practice keeping records, an important life skill.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on all you

have learned throughout the 4-H year. As you

get older, you'll be able to look through your

record book and see what an impact 4-H has

had on your life! Completing your record book

is also a requirement for participating in

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) a civic

engagement trip to Washington, D.C.!

Deadline Record books must be submitted to the Extension Office by

4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15. You are encouraged

to review your record book WITH your leader prior to

submission to make sure it is complete. Everyone who turns

in their book on time will receive a free t-shirt at County

Awards Night!

4-H record keeping should reflect the 4-Her's goals, accomplishments, and future plans

Objectives for 4-H Record Keeping

To learn how to set goals, how to make plans for action, and how to decide how well you did (self-evaluation)

To learn the skills of record keeping and organization to use now and in the future

To learn to communicate and summarize

To learn responsibility by completing a task

To evaluate information that will market personal skills through future resumes and application forms

Our Expectations

County Council members will work closely with the Fremont County CYC and the Extension Office Summer Intern. Members meet monthly or as needed. Activities can include workshops, day camps, overnight camps, County Council Retreat, county fair activities and Clover Kids activities. Serving on County Council is both a great honor and a great responsibility. As a member of the Fremont County 4-H County Council, you will be asked to be the best person, leader, and role model you can be. Fill out an application, and turn it into the office by September 15. Graduating 4-H Members

Elizabeth Adkisson, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year 4-H member and has been a part of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club since

moving to Fremont County. She plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University to major in Mathematics and Art Secondary

Education. Her favorite 4-H memories are helping with Junior Overnight as a County Council member. “4-H has made me a stronger

leader and a lot more confident in myself.”

Lydia Alley, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year Riverside Rockets 4-H member. She plans to attend Northwest

Missouri State to major in Communications. Lydia’s favorite 4-H memory is traveling to Washington D.C. on the CWF trip and

strengthening relationships with fellow 4-Hers and leaders during “Happies and Crappies.” “Through 4-H I have gained both social and

leadership skills that have helped me through my high school years.”

Sarah Brown, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 2-year 4-H member of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club. Sarah plans to attend college in

the future. Her favorite 4-H memory is working in the concession stand at the Fremont County Fair. “4-H has expanded my view on the

world.”

Ellie Crom, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 1st year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. She plans to attend Iowa

State University and major in Event Management. Ellie’s favorite 4-H memory is doing a presentation about public speaking with Alex

Perrin. “4-H has allowed me to meet so many new people and even get closer with those I knew before 4-H.”

Ashton Dunkle, a graduate of Shenandoah High School, is a 4-year member of the WMP 4-H club. She plans to attend Missouri Western

State University. Her favorite 4-H memory is being a counselor at Waubonsie Horse Camp. “4-H has helped me develop stronger

leadership skills.”

Layne Ettleman, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year Silver Skylarks 4-H club member. He plans to attend Southeast

Community College in Beatrice, NE to major in Agriculture Business and Livestock Production. His favorite 4-H memories are the

Washington D.C. trip in 2018, and camping at the 2019 fair during the week with 4-H friends. “4-H has helped teach and instill

responsibility, a strong character and a way of coping and getting along with others. It has also helped my confidence.”

Savannah Hall, a graduate of Sidney High School, is an 8-year member of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club. Savannah plans to major in

Interior Design with minors in Business and Community & Regional Planning at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her favorite 4-H

memory is the 2018 CWF trip to Washington D.C. with her friends. “4-H has definitely helped with public speaking through judging. I

think I have gained self-confidence through 4-H.”

Lexie Howard, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year Riverside Rockets 4-H club member. She plans to attend Missouri

State University majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Geology. Her favorite 4-H memory is hanging out in the calf barn. “4-

H has had a positive impact on my life. I have learned a lot of new things and met lots of nice people over the years. 4-H will always be a

favorite part of my childhood years.”

Elizabeth Howell, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year member of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club. She plans to enter the workforce

while taking online classes with the goal of becoming a Veterinary Technician. Her favorite 4-H memories include exhibiting horses and

other animals at the fair and making friends throughout the years. “4-H has taught me about leadership and taking responsibility for the

care of animals.”

Jade Kaufman, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 6-year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. She is considering

attending Iowa Western Community College to study Illustration or joining the National Guard. Her favorite 4-H memory is the 2018

CWF trip to Washington D.C. “4-H has definitely improved my social skills. It has also helped me learn about things I am interested in as

hobbies or fair projects.”

Colton Moore, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. He plans to attend Iowa

State University to major in Agriculture Business and minor in Agronomy and Agriculture Systems Technology as a member of the

Farmhouse Fraternity. His favorite 4-H memory is the 2018 CWF trip to Washington D.C. “Through my involvement in 4-H, I have been

able to meet so many great people and have made memories that will last a lifetime. I am thankful for the experience s that the 4-H

program and Fremont County has provided me with over the years.

Dane Moyer, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year member of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club. Dane joined the Iowa National Guard

Reserves and is headed to Boot Camp and then AIT before returning to Iowa. His favorite 4-H memory is the 2018 CWF trip to

Washington D.C. “4-H has impacted me by helping me become more of a leader and broadening my skills through projects, trips, and

camps.”

Trevor Perkins, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. Trevor is excited to

focus on his business, Perkins Publicity. His favorite 4-H memory is the first time he coordinated entertainment for the fair. “4-H has

taught me many leadership skills that have helped me now and will help me in the future.”

Alex Perrin, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. He plans to attend the

University of Northern Iowa to major in History and Political Science. His favorite 4-H memory was the 2018 CWF trip to Washington

D.C. 4-H has taught me the meaning of goals. It has also helped me to see the importance of community service and I have made many

friends along the way.

Cale Phillips, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year member of the Washington P.E.P. 4-H club. He has been accepted to the

Diesel Ag Tech Program at Southeast Community College in Milford, NE. His favorite 4-H memory is the 2018 CWF trip to Washington

D.C. “Over the years I have made many friends from around the county and learned lots from my 4-H projects.

Ethan Roberts, a graduate of the Lourdes Central Catholic High School, is a 9-year member of the Fremont County Fletchings 4-H

Shooting Sports club. Ethan plans to attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to major in Mechanical Engineering. He will also join the

Air Force ROTC. His favorite 4-H memory is the 2018 CWF trip to Washington D.C. “4-H has made me a leader and I have fostered great

friendships.”

Rebecca Straw, a graduate of Mount Ayr High School, is a 9-year 4-H member. She is a part of the Fremont County Fletchings 4-H

Shooting Sports club. She plans to attend Southwest Community College to obtain her degree in early childhood education and to be a stay

at home mother. Her favorite 4-H memory is attending 4-H camp and being a camp counselor. “4-H has impacted me by letting me

explore new areas of interest, and finding what kind of person I want to be.”

Abigail Whitehead, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year member of the Silver Skylarks 4-H club. She plans to attend Iowa State

Universtiy. Her favorite 4-H memory is winning the Cherry Pie Contest her first year! “4-H has helped me develop my writing skills

through the write-ups I make for each project. It has also helped me to try new things I may have never done like welding, sewing, or

showing cattle.”

Jed Whitehead, a graduate of Sidney High School, is a 9-year member of the Washington P.E.P. 4-H club. Jed plans to attend Southeast

Community College in Beatrice, NE to major in Agriculture Business. His favorite 4-H memory is attending Camp Wild in Madrid as a

young 4-H member. “I have gained a lot of great skills through 4-H including leadership, communication, and public speaking.”

Kaylee Wright, a graduate of Fremont-Mills High School, is a 9-year member of the Riverside Rockets 4-H club. Kaylee plans to attend

Iowa Western Community College for Dental Hygiene. Her favorite 4-H memory is being crowned the 2018 Fremont County Fair Queen!

“4-H has impacted me a lot the last several years. 4-H is something anyone can do, with or without livestock and it provides opportunities

for all! I will continue to cherish all of the impactful memories I have made and plan to be involved with 4-H as an adult.”

We are excited to announce that our K-6 Art To-Go Kits are ALMOST ready! So sign up NOW!

What is an Art To-Go Kit? Due to COVID-19, ISU Extension and Outreach is not able to host face-to-face Day Camps this summer. Instead, we are offering take-home kits packed with fun activities and materials! Weblinks to videos that enhance the kits can be accessed through Google Drive (mobile phone friendly)! A flash drive with videos can be provided upon request.

Who are the kits for and how much do they cost? These kits are available for kids who have completed grades K-6. You do not have to be a member of a 4-H or Clover Kids club to receive these kits! The kits will be available to pick-up at the Extension Office, in Sidney, for $5. Cash or check only! Payment and a short registration form will be required at pick-up.

How do I get my kit? Please email xfremont@iastate.edu OR call us at the office (712-374-2351) to reserve/schedule a pick-up time for an Art To-Go Kit.

When will I be able to pick up a kit? Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM. So call/email us today to reserve a kit! We will contact you when they are ready for pickup! The kits will be available until October 1.
