Story Structure
Story Structure-basic parts of the story’s plot
setting, characters, and plotas you read look for the main character’s
conflict (problem) and resolution (solution to the problem).
Use a Story Map Graphic Organizer to organize main ideas of each part of the story that make up the story structure.
Summarize
Summarize- to retell important parts of the story in your own words
Conflict- the problemResolution- the solution to a problem
Point of View
refers to who is telling the story.
third person- Narrator is telling the story
third person limited-shares only one characters thoughts and feelings
third person omniscient-shares thoughts and feelings of ALL of the characters
Point of View
“A Package for Mrs. Jewls” is written in the third person limited point of view.
Irony
Irony- occurs when something happens that is the opposite of what the readers expect.
The ending of “A Package for Mrs. Jewls” is an example of irony.
Irony
In “A Package for Mrs. Jewls”, the reader does not expect Mrs. Jewls to use the computer the way she does.
The use of irony in the passage makes it surprising and humorous!
