A NORTHERN KANE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PUBLICATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chair’s Message

MISSION STATEMENTThe Northern Kane County Chamberis an advocate for business interestsand development by identifying andfulfilling the needs of the business

community through leadership, education, support and promotion.

Kristi Kozar

Happy New Year!

Before I go any further, I

would especially like to

thank Lori Schutt, with CP

Apparel, for serving as the

Chairperson of the Board for

the past 2 years. Lori did an

amazing job and she will

now be serving as the Past

Chair for the Board. I will

be working with Lori to

ensure a smooth transition into the Chairperson

position for 2017-2018.

A little about myself. I have been employed with

Polynt Composites as an Analytical Chemist for the

past 16 years and have been serving on the Board of

Directors since 2011. The past 2 years I served as the

Board Secretary. I am looking forward to the

challenges as the newly appointed chairperson and

working with our newly formed Executive Board and

Board of Directors. I am excited about the level of

experience on the Executive Board. Lori Schutt, Past

Chair, is very dedicated to the chamber and will be a

great mentor for my new role. Ernie Gamino, Vice

Chair, has been a board member for the past few years

and a past ambassador and brings new ideas to our old

way of doing things. Scott Komaromy, Treasurer, has

been a board member and on executive for several

years and he keeps us in line with our budget and gives

the thumbs up to spend money. Paula Amenta,

Secretary, has been a board member for many years

and has been an integral part of the success of the

chamber. Melissa Hernandez, President, has done a

tremendous job at keeping the momentum going

and supporting all of its members.

This year is off to a great start with the

Ambassadors hosting their Annual Bowling Event

at Liberty Lanes. Thank you to everyone who

attended, sponsored and donated raffle prizes.

This year was a Disco theme which included a

flash mob by the Ambassadors and Committee

members as well as a limbo contest…How low

can you go? The Golf committee has started

working on the golf outing which will be held on

Friday June 9th at Randall Oaks Golf Course.

Keep your eyes open for the various ways to get

your company involved with our main

fundraising event for the year. The second half

includes the Fest on the Fox on July 15th, the

Annual Awards Dinner on October 7th, the

Community Service Award on November 15th

and the Women in Business Holiday Lunch on

December 1st. More information will be

available as we get closer to those events.

Please remember that the more involved you

become in an organization like the Chamber of

Commerce, the greater the dividend you and your

business receive. I look forward to seeing you all

at upcoming events such as the events listed

above, ribbon cuttings and after-hour events.

I also look forward to working with each

committee and getting to know more and more of

the members as the year goes by.

Sincerely,

Kristi Kozar

Chairman of the Board

WIB will be hosting their annual Fashion Show on Thursday, May 4 at Randall Oaks. This is one of

our largest fundraisers to fund Dollars for Scholars. This is a not to be missed event.

There will be six models who will be modeling daytime and evening looks. Our local salons will

share helpful tips how to seamlessly change your look from day to evening. And get ready for this!

Feast your eyes on some of our male chamber members as well as some of the youngest members of

our chamber family.

Clothing will be provided by The

Fox and Filly, Lularoe, Uniform

Outlet, Etcetera and more.

Please join us to see the latest

fashion trends, learn some great

beauty tips and support our Dollars

for Scholars program that awarded

$6000 to local students in 2016.

We are looking for models,

please contact the Chamber or

Rebekah Chisholm at 312-498-3119

if you would love to strut down the

runway with us!
