THANK YOU’S

The Citizens for Ashley Fitch want to thank you, First Baptist Church, for all you did to provide Ashley a fresh new addition to her house. You helped to remove the tree from next door, that fell on her house Easter Sunday, April 12th. She did not have home insurance, so she remained in her house with no electricity and a leaking roof until we collected money and secured talented volunteers who spent their time and skills to repair the area damaged by the tree. Words cannot express our gratitude to these men for their service of love. They started work on June 26 and completed the repairs on September 4. Some Sunday School classes, individual contributors, benevolence committee, and the Brotherhood made donations that were used to provide needed supplies. This was truly a Home Mission Endeavor to show our love and support right here at home. Thank you, Citizens for Ashley Fitch Dear FBC, We wanted to thank you for your thoughts and prayers during our accident and recovery. The kindness and compassion shown to us during this time has given us a deeper and more meaningful understanding of God’s love, of gratefulness, and forgiveness. Thank you again and God Bless Caleb Alford

How wonderful it was to have a partial return of our Chancel Choir. I real-ize everyone doesn’t feel comfortable returning yet but I really appreciate all of those who have returned. It is such a joy to have even a portion of our choir returning to lead us in worship! Thank you! By the time you read this, our Children’s Choirs will have had their first meeting. I am so excited about our children returning to choirs and bells. I want to thank all those who work to make our children’s choirs a huge suc-cess each week. From our choir leaders: Rosemary and Garth Tindle and their workers to Sylvia Alford and Mary Tindle to Sharnee Howell and her help in Young Musicians to all those who serve cookies and oversee our gym play and help in transportation. It takes to many to make this ministry happen each week and I appreciate each of you. Thank you! Ann and I still have a lot of different places and things on our bucket list and one of those is “Old Faithful.” Old Faithful is one of nearly 500 gey-sers in Yellowstone National Park is and is probably responsible for the park becoming such a great attraction. The world's most famous geyser, Old Faithful in Yellowstone, currently erupts around 20 times a day. Old Faithful can vary in height from 100-180 feet with an average near 130-140 feet. This has been the historical range of its recorded height. Eruptions normally last between 1.5 to 5 minutes. Scientists estimate that the amount ranges from 3,700 gallons (for a short duration of 1.5 minutes) to 8,400 gallons (for a longer duration of 4.5 minutes). During an eruption, the wa-ter temperature at the vent has been measured at 204°F (95.6°C). The steam temperature has been measured above 350°F! (I don’t recommend taking a shower in the geyser. But what is interesting is that Old Faithful isn’t as faithful as it was since a 1959 earthquake and it has 1 to 2 less eruptions per day. We call many things faithful but there really is only one person who is always faithful. Only one who will truly never let us down. Let’s be faith-ful to Him and join together to worship Him this Sunday! Randy

MUSIC NOTES

A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

In Acts 19, we read about a riot in Ephesus.

It seems the Apostle Paul had been preaching that idols weren’t real gods. Well, that didn’t sit well with certain businessmen in Ephesus who crafted the idols. Paul’s preaching was contrary to their financial well-being. And if he was allowed to continue it, and if the people were persuaded that he was right, then they would stop buying idols, and the men who crafted them would go out of business.

So they caused a stir among the people, yelling in the crowds that their local god, Artemis, was a great god among the Ephesians. And the mob grabbed 2 of Paul’s companions (Paul wa s not with them at the moment) and took them to the theater presumably to execute them, so that their message might be thwarted.

Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed as a local official calmed down the crowds and told them that if they had a problem with Paul and his companions, they should bring them before the court.

Paul and his friends were persecuted, almost ultimately, for preaching and standing for the truth. 3

Church, we shouldn’t expect the lost world to leave us alone. If we’re vocal about our faith, and we should be, then we should fully expect to be harassed and persecuted. We don’t go looking for fights, but we stand our ground when our faith is challenged.

Don’t be surprised as a believer, when this test comes your way. Determine in your heart, now, that you will stand firm regardless of the possible conse-quences.

1 John 4:1-6 this week. Study up! Love you, Bro. Chris
