A New DawnYu Jin Miguel Lim (Mar 2016)
A new dawn breaksThe bottle beckons me
The sweetness jumps at my lipsIt calls out to me
“Let me give you a hand”But I know it won’t.
A new dawn breaksBut not for meI’ve lost it all
Nothing waits for me.The pool of water
like a portal to tranquility.
Oh! To be at peaceOh! To end the struggle
A new dawn broke,I filled myself with lead.

Oh! To be at peaceOh! To end the struggle

Personification to give the tempting bottle the impression of being like a person, as it tried to coax the alcoholic to drink.
