Last Friday we had our final Kinder-Foundation transition session with our 28 Foundation stu- dents. While the children were busy in Art and meeting their buddies again, Miss Wickson, Mrs Ludewig and I welcomed their parents to the school community with an Information session and Morning Tea. It is wonderful to have so many new faces, yet also so many of the younger siblings of our students joining the Myrniong family. Thank you to Miss Wickson and Mrs Ludewig for their organisation of this program, and also to the parents and students who spoke to our new families last week. Later this week and into next week we have many events that are worth highlighting: Friday 7 th December: volunteers morning tea Monday 10 th December: Year 6 Assembly and Lions Club Awards Tuesday 11 th December: Year 6-7 state-wide orientation day Wednesday 12 th December: School Concert @ 6:30PM Friday 14 th December: Year 6 Excursion Monday 17 th December: Whole School Excursion Tuesday 18 th December: 9-11AM transition to 2019 classes Tuesday 18 th December: Parent-Teacher Interviews Uniform We have noticed the standard slipping slightly over the past couple of weeks. Quite a number of casual clothing items, as well as some very short shorts. Please note school council will be reviewing the uniform policy, in particular to detail shorts to be of an appropriate length. If you need to purchase new uniform or see what second-hand items we have, please come to the office and see Karen. Our students look so smart and respectable when they are dressed in full uniform. Community Grant Last week I attended the Ballan and District Community Banks Annual General Meeting to accept a $5000 Community In- vestment Grant to put towards our Shade Sail Project’. It is such a wonderful initiative by them, and without this successful grant application, we simply would not have the budget to replace our depleted shade sails over the playground. I am also seeking quotes for a more permanent structure, as we simply cannot keep up with ongoing maintenance and costs every time one of our shade sails tear. So keep your eye on this early next year. 2019 Staff Structure Lastly, I will be sending home a note early next week with our 2019 staff structure published. This note will detail which teacher is teaching which class, as well as our specialist programs and teachers and also outline the support programs we will have in place for 2019. In the last week of term, on Tuesday 18 th December, students will meet their next years teacher and class as we have a transition morning planned this day. I hope to see you at one or more of these fabulous events in the coming weeks. Kind Regards David Garner No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” ~ Aesop
