On Sunday, June 10, immediately following

our 10:30 worship service, Trinity will

welcome our Rivertown Salkehatchie Summer

Service workers from around the state to

our community with a covered-dish lunch. This is

our chance to meet and greet our campers and

introduce them to Trinity’s good cooking.

We will be feeding ourselves as well as 120+ hungry Salkehatchie

workers, so please prepare generous amounts of side dishes and

desserts. The church will provide meats and beverages.

Thanks for all you do to make this mission a success each year!

Rivertown Salkehatchie June 9-16

Rivertown Salkehatchie 2018 is just around the corner, and there is much work to be done to prepare for it. There is a job for everyone. You don’t have to be handy with a hammer, willing to spend hot summer days on a roof, or do any physically demanding labor. Please check out the form below to see a few of the ways you can become a part of this wonderful mission. If you don’t see anything you can do but you still want to help, call the numbers listed below, and we’ll find a way for you to serve. Otherwise, fill out the form below and put it in the offering plate, drop it by the church office, or give it to Jeff or Valerie Davis or Beth Suggs.

Contact Jeff at 222-3080 or [email protected], Valerie at 365-3397 or Beth at 365-1618 for more information.

Salkehatchie Snacks Snacks, water, small gatorades,

and other drinks

are very much needed and

appreciated by our work-campers.

Please drop these off at the

Fellowship Hall.

Connecting the dots Commencement speeches and greeting cards are full of advice for graduates, yet good intentions and careful plans can’t guarantee a perfect life — whatever that might mean. “You can’t connect the dots looking forward,” said Steve Jobs. “You can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life ...” As Christians, we can do more than that: We can trust in God. Yes, he may speak to us through a “gut” feeling, and our eternal “destiny” is assured. And we know that life, not death, will win out. But recent grads — and all of us — need not just sit and wait to see how the dots of our lives will someday connect. God has shown us through Scripture, the church and, above all, Jesus that the dots connect this way: from God’s heart, to Jesus’ sacrifice for us, to our entry into relationship with God, to our heart and finally to our own loving outreach to others. Whatever shape your education, work and family take through the years, “commence” with this: God has drawn your life to connect with him and your neighbors. If you follow those Spirit-etched lines, you’ll be fine. —Heidi Mann

food, fun, and fellowship!

A Flash of Perspective

If summer storms make you or a loved one nervous, the perspective one mom offered her young son might help. Though lightning can be harmful, God created it for good: The powerful electricity converts unusable nitrogen to nitrate, which plants need for growth and human bodies use to produce proteins.

The boy was still uncertain, so Mom continued. “Did you know there’s lightning in heaven?” (See the description of John’s vision in Revelation 4:5.) “And nothing in heaven can hurt,” said the boy, catching on. Mom added, “Plus, lightning reminds me that Jesus is coming. Matthew (24:27, NIV) says, ‘As lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.’” This summer, as lightning brightens the sky, reassure yourself — or a child — of lightning’s purpose and wonder. —Based on “I’m Afraid of Thunder and Lightning,” Family Time Story Devotions

SANCTUARY WINDOWS.

Work on the stained glass windows in the Sanctuary is scheduled to begin this week.

Please pardon our mess as we make necessary repairs to our beautiful windows.

Repairs will cost $59,000. If you would like to help with this expense, please make your check payable to Trinity and write “windows” on the memo line.

If you would like to send a note of welcome to the incoming parsonage family, their mailing address is: Dr. and Mrs. Kim M. Strong 1930 Mt. Holly Drive Rock Hill, SC 29730

Dear Trinity UMC, I wanted to thank you all for the wonderful reception we have already gotten!! The welcome basket was such a great gesture to welcome us. We are already feeling the love of our new church family! Please also thank the PPRC for such a warm introductory visit. It was great to meet them and can’t wait to meet the rest of the church. Thanks again. Love in Christ, Kim & Margo

A Big Thank You from the Trinity Church Family to Linda Gainey, Lisa

Davis, and their many helpers who have volunteered their time and talents to our children through the Fish Club. We would also like to thank those who have supported this program with meals and monetary donations.

Fish Club will resume in the fall!

Trinity United Methodist Church, Thank you for your donations to our ministry. Your gifts of $110.00 (5/2/18) and $295.00 (5/9/18) will enable us to continue fulfilling our mission of “Sharing God’s Love One Meal At A Time.” May God bless you, The Board of Directors of The Shepherd’s Table

To All at Trinity, God’s presence surely was felt at Trinity yesterday. A great big lump was in my throat as “Pomp & Circumstance” rang out for my grandson Max and the other proud graduates. From an infant with beautiful red curls held lovingly in his mother’s arms and wearing an heirloom christening gown, to our 6’2”, 250 lb. Wofford Terrier offensive lineman this fall, Trinity continues to touch Max’s life. God has him in His hands! Shirley Johnson
