Last Sunday, Kang Ling’s mother bought her a gift for her birthday. It was an expensive digital watch. She was as happy as a lark when she received it from her mother.

The next day, Kang Ling wore her new watch to school. Her friends were green with envy when she showed them her new watch. “Wow, it is a nice watch!” Jane her friend exclaimed.

During recess, while Kang Ling was having her breakfast with Jane in the canteen, Kang Ling realised that Kang Ling was not wearing her watch. “Kang Ling, where is your watch?” asked Jane.

When Kang Ling realised her new watch was missing, she started to panic and she cried. Jane accompanied her to look for the missing watch in the canteen but they could not find it. Kang Ling was worried.

After recess, Kang Ling went back to her class. Her classmates Xin Tian and Nittoo were waiting for her at her desk. They had found her watch. Kang Ling breathed a sigh of relief and asked them where they found it. They found it in the hall and she might have dropped it during P.E. lessons.

Kang Ling was grateful to Xin Tian and Nittoo for returning her the watch. She promised she would take better care of her things in future.

One Saturday morning, Tom was walking home after buying food. Suddenly, he saw an old aunty, Madam Kwe. She was feeling very dizzy and fainted. Tom was shocked.

Tom went to the nearest public phone at the void deck to call for the ambulance. Tom’s mother, Mrs Lim was very worried when he was not back from buying lunch and she came looking for him. He told her what had happened.

In a few minutes, the ambulance arrived and the paramedics sent Madam Kwe to the hospital. The staff in the hospital informed Madam Kwe’s family that she was in the hospital.

When Madam Kwe’s family reached the hospital, they were very worried. Luckily, Madam Kwe had regained consciousness. They thanked Tom gratefully. Tome’s mother also praised him and Tom was as happy as a lark.

One afternoon, Jay Jay was on his way home from the supermarket, holding a bag full of groceries. At the void deck, he saw his neighbour, Auntie Lim. He was about to greet her when she felt giddy. She held on to the wall, but her arms were wobbly. The next moment, she fainted. Jay Jay was shocked.

Jay Jay quickly ran to the public phone to call for the ambulance and he waited for the ambulance anxiously. He was worried the ambulance would not come in time.

Luckily, the ambulance arrived very soon. The paramedics transferred Auntie Lim onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. They quickly made their way to the hospital. Jay Jay felt relieved.

Later in the evening, Jay Jay’s parents brought him to the hospital to visit Auntie Lim. Jay Jay was as happy as a lark to see that Auntie Lim had regained consciousness. According to Auntie Lim’s son, it was Jay Jay’s fast reaction that saved Auntie Lim. Jay Jay’s parents were pleased to hear that. They were proud of him.

An Incident in the Shop

It was Teachers’ Day. Ethan, Nicholas and Shiya were at a shopping mall. They wanted to buy a Teachers’ Day Gift for their teacher, Miss Lim.

Nicholas saw a beautiful cup and wanted to buy it. “This cup is beautiful,” Nicholas told Shiya and Ethan.

As he was walking towards them, he slipped and fell. CRASH! The cup broke. “Are you okay?” asked Ethan and Shiya. They helped Nicholas to get to his feet but the cup was already broken.

After a while, the shop assistant came. Nicholas apologised to the shop assistant. The shop assistant showed them a big warning sign with the words ‘Once broken, considered sold’.

Nicholas regretted what he had done. They shared the cost and left the shop. Nicholas promised his friends to be more careful in future.

A Greedy Boy

On a bright sunny day, a greedy boy, Tim was hungry as a bear, so he went into the kitchen and took two packets of potato chips. He went to the sofa and started eating. His mother Mrs Lee warned him, “Tim, please do not eat too much snacks or else you will be as sick as a dog.” When his mother finished the sentence, Tim continued eating and ignored her.

During lunch, he took out an ice popsicle from the refrigerator and had it with his lunch. Tim also had a cold drink. His mother reminded him sternly again but again, the stubborn Tim ignored her.

The next day, Tim woke up with a tummy ache, His mother told him to rest on the sofa.

Suddenly, Tim vomited and he was in pain. His mother called for the ambulance immediately. Luckily, the paramedics arrived in a short while and sent him to the nearby hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, the nurses examined Tim and the doctor told Mrs Lee that Tim had food poisoning but it was not very serious.

Tim promised Mrs Lee not to be as stubborn as a mule and to listen to good advice in future.

One sunny day, Jack was on his way home from the supermarket. At the void deck, he saw his neighbour, Mdm Loh falling down. She became unconscious.

Jack panicked. Then he called for the ambulance. Soon the ambulance arrived. Mdm Loh was lifted onto the stretcher by the paramedics and sent to the hospital. Jack went home and told his family what had happened.

Jack visited Mdm Loh at the hospital in the evening. She had regained consciousness. Jack was relieved. Mdm Loh’s relatives thanked Jack because he helped her.

One Sunday afternoon, it was Jana’s birthday. Her mother bought her an expensive watch as a birthday present as Jana had gotten full marks for her examinations. She was as happy as a lark! She received her gift after she had finished cutting her cake.

The next day, she wore her new watch to school. Jana bragged about her watch as her friends clapped their hands. They were impressed and green with envy. Ding! The recess bell rang and all the children went down to the canteen to get their food.

When Jana finished eating, she realised that her watch was missing! She was shocked. She walked around the canteen, but there was no sight of the watch. Her friend Nadia said, “I will help you find the watch.” Jana thanked her.

Jana stared to cry when recess was over and her watch was still missing. All of a sudden, her classmate Haura appeared with her watch. Harua found it in the toilet. Jana stopped crying and thanked Haura and all her classmates for their help.

One Monday, Mike was bored in the kitchen as his mother and his father were not at home. They were at work. Mike was playing happily with the candles and matchsticks in the kitchen near the dustbin.

While Mike was playing, he accidentally dropped the matchsticks into the dustbin and set it on fire. The fire burnt Mike’s fingers. Immediately, Mike ran to call his parents.

After Mike called his parents, he saw that the dustbin had toppled and the fire spread. Mike gasped in horror and ran to his neighbour to ask for help.

After a while, the fire engine arrived and the firemen put out the fire in Mike’s flat. In the end, Mike was caned by his parents because he played with fire in the house.

One sunny day, Tom was in the kitchen, playing with matchsticks. He lighted a matchstick. After a while, he accidentally dropped a lighted matchstick into the bin. Soon, the house was on fire as the bin toppled and the carpet caught fire.

“What shall I do?” Tom wondered. He went to His neighbour, Max’s house and asked for help. Max’s family called the fire brigade.

After a while, the firemen came and put out the fire. Tom was not hurt. His parents came back. They saw the big mess and they were very angry. Tom said sorry to his parents.

One day, Serene’s mother gave her a watch for being a good girl. She was told not to bring the watch to school so she would not lose it. Serene was very happy to get a watch as a gift.

Serene ignored her mother’s warning and showed off the watch to her friends, Jeslyn and Sam. They liked the watch and they were green with envy as the watch was very expensive and beautiful.

During recess, her friend Jeslyn saw that Serene’s watch was missing. They started to look for it.

Serene breathed a sigh of relief when her classmate Angela found it. Angela accidentally took Serene’s watch because she thought that it was hers. She had a similar watch. She apologised to Serene and Serene was glad to get back her watch. She did not want to get scolded by her mother for losing her watch.

One Monday, Shan Tian passed her Maths test, so her mother gave her an expensive watch as a gift. It was green in colour. Shan Tian was as happy as a lark.

The next day, she showed off her watch to her classmates, Xin Tian and Tom. They asked, “Who gave you the watch?” Shan Tian replied, “My mother gave it to me as a gift for passing the Maths test.”

After a few minutes, the recess bell rang. Shan Tian and her good friend Megan went for their recess together. As Shan Tian was walking to the canteen, she accidentally dropped the watch without knowing. When they were eating their rice, Megan asked all of a sudden, “Where is your watch?” Shan Tian’s watch had disappeared! Shan Tian was worried.

The next day, her schoolmates, Siti and Dawood found her watch in the parade square. They returned it to Shan Tian. She was very grateful to them and she thanked them, as she breathed a sigh of relief.

A Fire

One Tuesday morning, Tom’s parents were not at home. Tom was so bored as he had nothing to do. He went to the kitchen to take some matchsticks. Then, Tom did something very wrong. He put lots of paper into the dustbin and lighted a matchstick.

All of a sudden, Tom dropped the lighted matchstick into the dustbin. The papers in the dustbin caught fire! Tom was so shocked as the flames engulfed the dustbin. “Help!” Tom cried. He ran to the toilet to put his hand in cold water.

When he came out from the toilet, the dustbin had toppled. He could have kicked the dustbin accidentally when he ran to the toilet earlier. The fire had spread. The carpet was on fire! Tom was afraid. He used his handphone to call the fire brigade.

In a short while, the firemen arrived. They used water to put out the fire. Luckily no one was hurt. When his parents came home, they scolded him furiously. Tom admitted that it was his mistake.

One sunny Saturday, Emilia was jogging with her father at the park. They were jogging and chatting together. There was a swimming pool nearby and they were heading there.

Suddenly, Emilia heard an auntie shouting. Emilia’s father was quite alert. They rushed over to help. When they reached her, they saw a boy inside the swimming pool. He was struggling.

Immediately, Emilia’s father rushed in to save the boy. There were also on-lookers looking at them. The boy’s mother was worried. Emilia was also looking worried. Emilia’s father dived into the pool and saved the boy.

The boy’s mother thanked him for saving her son. Emilia was as happy as a lark and breathed a sigh of relief.

One day, Jimmy took out a packet of potato chips. His

mother warned him not to eat too much snacks but Jimmy

ignored her warning.

The next day, Jimmy bought an ice popsicle during

recess in school. His friend also warned him not to eat ice

popsicles every day, but Jimmy ignore his good advice as well.

After school, Jimmy’s mother came to fetch him home. She saw Jimmy putting

his hand on his stomach and running towards her. Jimmy had a tummy ache. As he

approached his mother, he vomited before he could utter a word. She brought Jimmy

to the clinic to see a doctor.

The doctor gave him some medication. Jimmy learnt his lesson not to eat so

much snacks.

One sunny afternoon, Jane was on her way to her piano lesson at Sembawang Shopping Centre when she saw a puppy.

She walked toward the puppy and thought it looked familiar. She recalled that she saw a notice about a lost dog at the bus stop. There was a telephone number. She called the owner and found out that he lived at Block 486.

She returned the puppy to the owner and the owner gave her a gift of $100 as a token of his appreciation for her help.

It was a Monday afternoon. Xin Tian was on her way home from school. As she was walking in the park, she heard a barking sound. She walked towards it. She saw a cute puppy barking under an enormous tree.

She rushed forward, towards the puppy. The puppy looked sad. The puppy had a collar around its neck. Xin Tian noticed a telephone number on the collar. At first, it seemed to be afraid of Xin Tian. Xin Tian patted the puppy. It wagged its tail and it was happier.

She picked up the dog. She wondered whose dog it was. Suddenly, she remembered the telephone number was her neighbour’s! No wonder it looked familiar.

She ran to her neighbour’s house and she knocked on the door, He opened the door and she asked, “Is this your puppy?” He said, “Yes!” She handled the puppy to its owner. He took out a $100 note.

She said, “No thanks. I don’t need the money.” The owner insisted that she take the money, so she took the money and went home. She told her mum the whole story. Her mum was happy to learn that she had done a good deed, Then Xin Tian took out the $100 note. Her mum turned red with fury. She reprimanded Xin Tian and made her give back the money.

Tom was a greedy boy and he loved eating snacks like ice popsicle and potato chips. One day, Tom was eating potato chips on the sofa. Tom’s mum took the bag of potato chips from him and asked him to stop eating so many snacks, but Tom went into the kitchen to take an ice popsicle.

In school, he also ate potato chips for recess. His

best friend asked him to eat a cheese sandwich

instead but Tom said that cheese sandwiches were not

yummy. His friend advised him that it was a healthier

food than potato chips.

He went home after school. Just as he was going to shower, he started to vomit. His mother was so worried about him that she called his father. Tom was as sick as a dog and his father rushed home as soon as possible. His parents brought him to the hospital. On the way, he fainted.

When Tom regained consciousness, he opened his eyes and saw a doctor. The doctor said he had eaten too much unhealthy snacks and he had to take medicine. He doctor also gave him an injection and he cried. He would never forget this day.

One hot evening, Jodie was on her way home. When she heard some barking, she walked nearer to the sounds and saw a puppy. It was dirty and scared. Jodie was wondering why there was a puppy outside the bungalow.

Jodie ran towards the puppy and patted it. She saw a collar with a number on it.

Jodie carried the puppy and wondered about the number on the collar. It could be the number of the owner of the puppy. Jodie went to the nearest public telephone and she called. After she found out the address, she ran towards it.

Finally, Jodie reached the owner’s house. The owner was relieved to find his puppy and gave Jodie some money. Jodie was happy and excited to share with her parents what had happened.

One day, Martin ate some potato chips while watching a television programme. Martin’s mother came into the room and warned Martin not to eat too much potato chips. The she left the house. Unfortunately, Martin did not listen to her advice and ate a lot of potato chips.

The next day, his mother took him to Kopitiam for lunch. Martin quickly ate his lunch. The he bought an ice popsicle and some biscuits. He was as stubborn as a mule and ignored his mother’s warning not to eat so much.

When they reached home, Martin ran to the toilet and vomited. His mother followed him and she was shocked. Martin sat down on the bed and he was pale. His face was as white as a ghost. He did not feel good. His mother called the doctor to make an appointment. When they reached the clinic, the doctor examined martin and gave him some medication. He had to rest at home for he was as sick as a dog.

He was going to take a shower in the bathroom when he felt a sharp pain. He had a tummy ache. Suddenly, he vomited. His mother heard him and saw what was happening. She called for the ambulance. Soon they reached the hospital. The doctor told him that he had eaten too much unhealthy snacks and advised him not to do it again.

Last week, I saw an old lady when I was on my way home from the library with my brother. The old lady was at the void deck of the HDB flat. She was my neighbour Auntie Tong. Auntie Tong looked unwell and she was giddy.

All of a sudden, Auntie Tong fainted. She fell onto the ground. Immediately, I found a public phone and called for the paramedics.

After a while, the paramedics arrived in an ambulance. They put Auntie Tong into the ambulance and she was sent to the hospital. I wanted to go with Auntie Tong, so I told my brother to let my mother know that I went to the hospital with Auntie Tong.

My brother told my mother about it. In the evening, my mother went to the hospital to fetch me. In the hospital, she met Auntie Tong’s relatives. They thanked me profusely and Auntie Tong was feeling better. She had regained consciousness and she felt grateful to me. They praised me in front of my mother.

Fire in the house!

One Monday evening, Ben was at home alone. He was bored, so he played with matches. He wanted to burn his worksheets so he did not need to do his homework. He put his worksheets into the rubbish bin.

Ben was as playful as a kitten. He lighted a matchstick and got a flame on the matchstick. Suddenly, he threw the matchstick into the dustbin quickly. The flame burnt his finger and he was frightened. He felt anxious when the worksheets caught fire.

He ran as fast as a leopard to the living room where he called the fire brigade. He waited for about ten minutes. The fire became bigger until it was as big as a giant.

After ten minutes, the siren from the fire engine could be heard. The firemen put out the fire. Luckily, no one was hurt, but some of the things in the flat were destroyed. Mother said angrily, “No more matches!”

One fine Monday afternoon, Nicholas was at home alone and he was bored. He went into the kitchen and he tried to light up a matchstick. After he lighted one, he decided to light up more matchsticks. He had actually planned to burn his worksheets so he did not have to do his homework.

Suddenly, he burnt his finger and dropped the lighted matchstick. The matchstick landed inside the dustbin and he was scared. He panicked and tried to put out the fire, but it did not work. As the fire spread, he thought of a way to put out the fire. Finally he had an idea.

As the dustbin toppled, Nicholas ran away to find his neighbour, Yu Heng. He shouted, “Help, help!” Yu Heng went to his house and said, “I can’t help you. The fire is too big.” At this moment, his mother came home. The house was engulfed in thick smoke. His mother was in shock! She quickly called the fire brigade.

Ten minutes later, the firemen came and put out the fire. She asked him, “What happened?” Nicholas explained and she was so furious she caned him.

One sunny afternoon, Jane was on her way home after school. She saw a puppy under a big tree and it looked frightened.

She cuddled and patted the puppy so that it would not be scared. She also smiled at the puppy but it ran away. She ran after it and caught hold of the puppy.

Jane picked up the dog and wondered who the owner was. She was puzzled. The puppy wagged its tail.

Jane checked the tag on the puppy’s collar and found an address. She went to the owner’s house. Mr John, the owner, thanked her and gave her a reward. Mr John was glad to get his puppy back.

Sam went to call for the ambulance. After a while, the ambulance arrived. The paramedics sent Auntie Lim to the hospital and Sam went along to see if she was okay.

Auntie Lim regained consciousness and was grateful to Sam. He was happy that Auntie Lim was okay. Auntie Lim thanked Sam for helping to call for the ambulance and the paramedics.

《我的生日》

我的生日在每年的四月十五日。今年的生日，妈妈给我买了一个 smiggle 的水壶，

我非常开心，因为我最喜欢 smiggle 这个品牌了，我的书包、文具盒全都是 smiggle

的。

中午时分，我邀请的好朋友全都陆续地来到了我家。妈妈和阿姨忙着准备我的生

日午餐，有 pizza，炸鸡块，土豆泥，薯条，意大利面等等。哇，非常丰富的午餐，

也都是我最喜欢吃的食物。等我的好朋友们都到齐了，我们就开始吃午餐，我的朋友

们也都非常喜欢妈妈为我们准备的午餐。

吃完午餐，阿姨把灯关掉，妈妈把蛋糕拿出来放在桌子上，并点上蜡烛，大家为

我唱起了生日歌。大家为我唱了一首英文的生日歌，还有华文的生日歌之后，我许了

三个愿望。第一个愿望是我想要一个宠物猫，第二个愿望是我想有很多好朋友，第三

个愿望是想要有健健康康的身体。我许好愿后，我们就开始吃蛋糕。妈妈把蛋糕切开

分给大家吃，我吃的最多，那天是我最开心的日子。

那天我的好朋友也跟我一样开心，他们还邀请了我到他们的生日聚会。

《我想养的宠物》

我想要养的宠物是仓鼠。仓鼠长得很可爱，因为它们毛茸茸的，性格也很温

驯。

我会每天喂它食物和水，帮它清理笼子。我也会帮他买“转转轮”，让它每天运动，

不让它发胖。除了每天照顾它， 我也会陪它玩。

我真希望爸爸妈妈能买一只仓鼠给我，可是他们觉得我还小，不会照顾宠物。

我答应他们我会学会照顾自已，那他们就可以放心让我养只宠物。
