Our Mission - WE, the people of Our Lady of Consolation Parish guided by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to continue the mission of Jesus Christ who announced the reign of God. It is easy to dismiss such seekers by thinking of them as astrologers or magicians, but that would be wrong. Much of what we call WISDOM LITERATURE in the Old Testament was written by people like them who were trying to figure out the human condition and the meaning of life. It is strange that for all of our modern knowledge we are still trying to figure those things out. One look at the world today tells us that we have miles to go in doing just that. If we have gained so much wisdom about our world and ourselves, how is it that starvation, violence, poverty and yes - even loneliness still haunts us. The Wisemen of scripture probably knew they would never find all the answers, but in the Christ child they saw a solution to most of the problems that plague human kind. We don’t need the wisdom that the Wisemen were seeking, but we do need the Christ that they found for in Him wisdom and grace come together. With God’s grace and the wisdom of Jesus Christ no problem is insurmountable, but as God the Father reminds us, who speaks of the Israelites in the Old Testament, our hearts must be opened to Jesus the Savior. May the grace of God and the wisdom of our Lord guide us, and our parish, in the New Year… May we be a source of blessing and hope to the world! Our Mission - WE, the people of Our Lady of Consolation Parish guided by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the

Eucharist, pledge to continue the mission of Jesus Christ who announced the reign of God. We accept His challenge

to proclaim the Good News of salvation that Jesus, the Christ, died for us, and in Him we have life to the fullest

measure. We seek to live as He lived, in service to others, building a community of faith and hope, with God’s grace

as our strength and the peace of Christ our heart’s desire. A Parishioner is - one who is registered and participates

in the liturgical life of the parish and demonstrates their support, as reflected in the Parish Mission Statement, by

completing and fulfilling an annual Stewardship Commitment of Time, Talent and Treasure.

A Message of Hope

The Wisemen were seekers of knowledge in a world where the physical sciences were unknown.

Ministries/Activities

A Tradition…

Blessing of Homes on the Feast of the Epiphany

The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the arrival of the Three Kings—Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar—at the crib

of Jesus. Tradition calls them “wise men” for their wisdom in seeking the Savior; magi who studied the stars and were led to the child, and “Kings” for the gifts they brought. Their visit from the East reveals Jesus as Savior for

the whole world. To commemorate this event we bless the doorways of our homes, realizing that the Lord is the honored guest in our homes. With the chalk write over the doorway…“20+C+M+B+20”. Blessed chalk and the prayer are available at the entrances of the church.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: The next blood pressure screening will take place in CHURCH in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word room from 8:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020

THE AMITY CLUB of OLC will hold its next meeting on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the OLC Ministry Center. All women of the parish are invited.

OUR NEXT MONTHLY FOOD COLLECTION WILL TAKE PLACE ON JANUARY 18th & 19th

January Food Focus Dinty Moore, Jelly, and Condiments

Our monthly food collection will be distributed to the Wayne Interfaith Network (WIN) Food Pantry serving working families, the disabled, and seniors who are hungry – neighbors helping neighbors. This month we would appreciate receiving Dinty Moore, jelly (all flavors) and condiments (ketchup, mustard & mayonnaise). Please bring the designated items to church ONLY on the above designated collection date. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY SCHOOL A GIFT TO THE PEOPLE OF WAYNE

Children spend most of their time in the classroom, and at IHM our class sizes allow personal attention by our caring teachers to help your child do better when they need help in a particular subject. Our classrooms are places to learn in and develop skills to help them lead and succeed. They are places where respect, teamwork and friendship grow and flourish. We wear uniforms because they show that school is a responsibility to be taken seriously. They keep the focus on learning, not on discussing fashion and comparing outfits. Students support each other through a unique buddy system where older students are paired with our younger students in a one-on-one mentoring relationship. Students love our buddy system! IHM School is a K - 8 Catholic school serving Wayne Township and the surrounding communities, with a separate preschool, SMALL BLESSINGS, for three and four year olds offering flexible days and hours. For further information call 973-694-1225.
