A Message from your Reunion CommitteeGreetings and Well Wishes from the RHS 50 Year Class of 1966 Reunion Committee

What a great weekend so many of us were able to enjoy, September 30 and October 1, 2016 in celebration ofour Fifty-Year Reunion. We received good wishes and congratulations from Bette Nolen, Bonnie Richards, Carlene Fisher, Carol Earney, Charles Welch, Don Tipps,Dub Stewart, Jo Denton, Mary Shilcutt, Minerva Kimbell and Truman Terrell. We honored faculty present and thanked one more time the outstanding teachers, coaches and activity sponsors from Richland High Schoolthat were so much a part of our education and development.

Our Friday casual party entertainment was highlighted by our band of the 60’s organized by James (Smiley) Williams and lead singer (showman) Jerry Jordan, Stanley Jordan, Mike Hicks, John Williams, Gary Coots,Larry Green (Haltom) & Ray Brown (LD Bell). Both the Friday and Saturday parties were at the Texas Starwith golf on Friday led by Jim Perkins at Bear Creek.

We had an official graduating class of 316 per commencement, but count 370 as our classmates. We were moved and thankful to recognize: 48 veterans who served in the military from our class 59 deceased classmates verified and recognized in a video tribute done by Susie Williams Fitzgerald withmuch support finding names and pictures by Nancy Carter Larmer. (We still have 90 classmates we can’t locate)

Thanks to Ron Albertson for the invocation and leading the singing of the class song, “TODAY”.

Our Saturday celebration entertainment by The Hi-Roller Band (Jack Henry band) provided us greatdance music. In addition, we were joined in by none other than Elvis who entertained us and serenadedClass VP Roxy Pace Seligman. Roxy comes every year for our reunions from Washington State and alongwith Michele Labate Cotton organized the girlfriends lunch on Saturday.

Thanks again to the planning committee who worked with pleasure and enthusiasm for a year to plan andsupport finding as many of you as possible, to enjoy a wonderful reunion weekend with you, our classmatesand friends and organize our digital Memory Book.

We hope this Memory Book serves to capture some of the fun we had, identify all of you present and help youstay connected as we remember and see what we are all about past, present & future.

Once again thanks to all of you for making the RHS Class of 1966 Fifty-Year Reunion a special weekendthat we will remember for a very long time.

IN APPRECIATION

As we all know, Tommy Clemons was our Class President in 1966, but he has remained the leader of our class for 50 years. After moving back to Texas from Alabama, Tommy was able to pick up the lifelong responsibility Bette Nolen told him as a student he would have as class president. It was after a call from Frank Bogard telling him of Larry Taylor’s passing from a heart attack that he decided we had to stay in touch and someone had to take control, so email address collections began in 2005. Tommy would be the 1st to say there have been many over the years who had a big influence and did so much work on all our past reunions, before the computer automations we have today.

Many have worked tirelessly, attending meetings, hand typing, manually copying, stuffing envelopes, creating data bases (Mary Jane) taking and finding pictures and creating videos (Fred B, Susie, & Ed), girls lunches & slumber parties (Roxy & Michele), golf for mostly guys (Jim & Dee), our music (James), on and on, keeping our class together and communicating.

Thanks to Reunion DB (Roxy, Ed & Susie), our web site (Marv) and now Facebook (Susie & Nancy), we are now and can be going forward, “better than ever.”

Without Tommy’s commitment and dedication to our class, our reunions would not be the example for the other classes to admire, but most importantly, keeping us connected as lifelong friends.

Our heartfelt thanks, Tommy, for keeping our class together and doing such a super job for 50 Years ! Tommy ROCKS
