My name is Avanee “Avy” Cortez and I am a CNA here at Park Manor. I

love helping others and working with the residents here. Seeing the resi‐

dents smile and making a difference in their lives is my favorite part

about this job!

I am a single parent to 2 wonderful and smart kids. Serenity Lee is 4

years old and will be star ng 4 year old kindergarten in September! She

is my smart, sassy, shy miny‐me! Archer Miguel is 3 years old and is a

social bu erfly. He loves Spiderman and is always staying busy!

Outside of work, other than my usual mom du es, I enjoy tending to my

vegetable garden that I started this year. We also just welcomed four ba‐

by chicks home recently. My kids and I also love swimming and spending

as much me outdoors as we can, work and weather permi ng!

Park Manor Update - 8/31/21 Covid Update

Park Manor remains free from Covid-19! We are currently doing routine testing on unvaccinated employees one time each week. The frequency of routine testing is de-termined by county positivity rates, which have risen in Price County in the last few weeks.

Covid-19 Vaccinations

According to the CDC, COVID-19 vaccines are working very well to prevent severe ill-ness, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant. However, with the Delta variant, public health experts are starting to see reduced protection against mild and moderate disease. For that reason, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for a booster shot so vaccinated people maintain protection over the coming months. Individuals will be eligible to receive a booster shot 8 months after receiving their second dose of an mRNA Covid-19 vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech). Park Manor has partnered with Park Pharmacy to provide booster shots to all residents and staff that are eligible and would like to receive one.

On August 18, President Biden announced that new regulations will be developed that will require all nursing home employees be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Further details or timelines have not been released, but we are anticipating more information to come sometime in September.

Flu Shots

Flu season is approaching quickly! We are planning upcoming dates in September and October for residents and staff to receive flu vaccines – stay tuned for more de-tails!

Fun at Park Manor

Park Manor residents have been enjoying new activities, music, games, and visits from family and friends! We’ve been enjoying fresh tomatoes from the garden, flower gardening, balloon toss, National Lemonade Day with fun treats and activities, crafts and painting, banana splits, and we ended the month with a 50’s party! This was a blast for everyone – bowling, “Guess that 50’s car,” “Name that 50’s show,” bowling, and Bingo and milkshakes in the afternoon!

Park Manor staff continue to focus on teamwork, appreciation for each other, and en-joying the little things in life despite the tough times around us. We are dedicated to making Park Manor the best place it can be for our residents, and a great place to work. If you have any suggestions that would make it even better, please let us know!
