VOLUME 8, Issue 9, November 2016 A Message from our Vice-President ~~~~~~~ Hi Everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! I can’t believe that I am already making that comment. It’s crazy that the holidays are in our sights. I must say though that I have enjoyed the fall colors on a few trees around the area. I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to make it up to Apple Hill near Placerville this year. Every year in the fall there is a spec- tacular view of autumn colors in the foothills. I’m excited about our Gardeners of the Grove meeting coming up on Monday, November 7th. Jennifer Khal from the Secret Garden will be our speaker. She will demonstrate how to make a colorful wreath. That’s a very timely subject for the holidays. Be sure to read her article in this edition of the Scarecrow (see page 3). Also, don’t miss the Secret Garden’s Holiday Open House (see page 7). We are very lucky that our Club will be continuing into the future. I’m looking forward to a great year of sharing gardening information and ideas. See you soon and happy gardening, Bonnie Jones Next Meeting ~~~~~ Monday, November 7 Holiday Wreaths Jennifer Khal The Secret Garden (more on page 3) Inside This Issue ~~~~ 2 – Sassy Succulents - Kalanchoe 2 – What’s Blooming? 3 – This Month’s Speaker 3 – Remove Pomegranate Seeds 4 – What’s Blooming 4 – November Checklist 4 – Last Month’s Speaker 5 – Speedy Recovery – Ruth Hayes 5 – Upcoming Tour—Poinsettias! 5 – Calendar of Events
