The Food and Drug Administration says the production and sale of albuterol CFC MDIs must stop by December 31, 2008. Between now and then, albuterol and levalbuterol HFA MDI supplies will increase and albuterol CFC MDI supplies will decrease. Ingredients: HFA MDIs have a somewhat different taste, force of spray and other attributes from albuterol CFC MDIs. While all albuterol CFC MDIs contain the same active ingredients, each albuterol and levalbuterol HFA MDI has its own formula. Prescriptions for HFA MDIs should be brand specific. Prescriptions for one brand may not be filled with another. Expect prices to vary according to health insurance prescription plans. There are no FDA-approved generic albuterol or levalbuterol HFA MDIs. Number of doses: 200 inhalations per canister. The correct amount of medication in each canister cannot be assured after 200 actuations, even though the canister is not completely empty.

HFA Bronchodilators
