MEDICAL SEMINARIn 1905, Sri Lokmanya Tilak appealed to Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa to start Ramakrishna Mission centre in Mumbai to fulfill spiritual and educational needs of the society. In response to this invitation, the centre began functioning in 1923 and a Charitable Dispensary in Khar(W), Mumbai, was started in the year 1924 to serve poor and needy patients.
Swami Vivekananda needs no introduction. He was a great lover of Humanity and one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the modern world. He was practically the first spiritual ambassador of India to the West, who proclaimed potential divinity of every human being and the oneness of existence which laid the foundation of Religious Harmony and Universal Brotherhood. To pay tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s universal message, Ramakrishna Mission is celebrating his 150th Birth Anniversary from the year 2011-2014.
As a part of these celebrations, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai is organising a one day Medical Seminar on various Transplants wherein renowned specialists will address the assembly of doctors and para-medicos. You are cordially invited to attend this function.
In order to practice Swami Vivekananda’s teaching of ‘Service to man is service to God’, the centre expanded its philanthropic medical activities by starting a hospital within the campus and a Rural Health & Welfare Programme in remote tribal village at Sakwar in Thane district in the year 1974-75.
Over the passage of time, the hospital has evolved into a well equipped 70 bedded hospital with 4 fully equipped operation theaters and 12 bedded ICU unit. The Hospital has state of art equipments and offers specialized treatments in various departments. The Charitable Dispensary and Hospital continues to be popular within the locals and nearly 1 Lac patients are treated every year and avail the facilities at nominal charges.
