There lived in Jerusalem an older man namedSimeon. Simeon had diligently studied thescriptures and was expecting news of the

arrival of the Messiah.

Oh, Lord, howlong will I have

to wait?

Then theSpirit of God

talked toSimeon.

Simeon, todayGod’s promiseto you will be

fullled . Go tothe temple.

Yes,Lord.

You promisedthat I would

not die beforeI see theSavior.

Joseph, Mary, and BabyJesus then went to one ofthe entrance of the temple,a large staircase leading toSolomon’s Porch.

the pigeons.

Simeon arrived at the temple andnoticed a young couple holding a baby.

It was the custom for the ceremony ofpurication to purchase a lamb to offer as asacrice, but if people were poor, two turtle

doves or two pigeons were acceptable.

Here are my best pigeons. I’ll givethem to you for a good price.

Oh, Joseph,there are somany people!
