“NTPC has initiated power capacity expansion programme of 3140 MW for Maharashtra. This is in adddition to 2440 MW already operational through Ratnagiri Gas Plant (1940 MW) and Mouda 500 MW. Schemes worth ` 4000 Crores are also being implemented by Power Ministry in Maharashtra.” This was stated by Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge) while speaking at a well attended public meeting at NTPC site, on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of Mouda Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) at Mouda in Nagpur district in Maharashtra on January 04, 2012.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Maharashtra urged Power Ministry to look after the rd

gas requirement for Dabhol which is working only 1/3 of its capacity due to gas shortage. He also appealed to Centre to look after the coal requirement for Maharashtra's Power needs".

Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC stated “NTPC is participating with 27.5 percent power generation of the total power generation of the country”. Informing about Mouda Project, he said that the plant is generating 500 MW power and capacity will be increased by 1320 MW after installation of 2 x 660 MW besides adding 500 MW second unit of stage-I.

Ratnagiri Commissions LNG TerminalRatnagiri Commissions LNG Terminal

Ratnagiri (RGPPL) have successfully th commissioned LNG terminal on 10 January,

2013. After commissioning of this LNG

terminal, India got its third LNG (Liquefied

Natural Gas) terminal at Ratnagiri in

Maharashtra.

For commissioning of LNG terminal,

Ratnagiri got its LNG Cargo Vessel "LNG

PIONEER" carrying 1,38,000 cubic meters of

LNG. This was safely berthed at the RGPPL st

LNG Jetty on 31 December, 2013. The LNG

was sourced by GAIL (India) Ltd. from

GAZPROM of Russia.

To create awareness and sensitize the senior employees about various aspect of communication, NCR HQ had organised a two day Communication

th thWorkshop at Agra from 8 -10 January, 2013.

Shri A N Dave, RED (NC&CA) in his keynote address, emphasized on importance of communication in an organization and how it helps in building healthy relationships amongst employees. Shri S C Pandey, ED(NC) in his inaugural address shared his views on internal as well as external communication and its significance in day to day life.

Shri A Chidambaram, GM (HR) in his welcome note highlighted the importance of such workshops for senior executives. Shri P K Sinha, AGM (CC) gave an overview of Corporate Communication in NTPC.

Various eminent faculty addressed the participants on topics like- Challenges in Corporate & Social Communication, Social Media for Corporate Branding, The Brave New World of Advertising, Press and PSU's, Power of Word and Enhancing Effectiveness of Spiritual Insights.

More than 30 participants including GMs of NCR Projects attended the Workshop.

A Blood Donation Camp was organised by Medical Cell at EOC &

thPMI, Noida on 09 January, in association with Indian Red Cross Society, New Delhi.

The Camp was inaugurated by Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC. Shri S P Singh, Director (HR) and other senior officials of NTPC were also present on the occasion.

A total of 180 donors donated blood in the camp. Out of which 140 people donated at EOC and 40 pe r sons donated a t PMI . Employees from Scope, EOC, NETRA, PMI, NCR, Hydro & other associates came forward in large numbers and participated in this noble cause.

Bhanu Athaiya was the first Indian to get an Oscar. She won the award for the Best Costume Designer for Richard Attenborough's film Gandhi in 1982. As someone who has designed costumes for over a hundred films across six decades, including CID, Pyaasa, Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide and many others, Athaiya was India's first star at the Academy.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Satyajit Ray an honorary Oscar in 1992 for Lifetime Achievement. It was one of his favourite actresses, Audrey Hepburn, who represented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on that day in Calcutta. Ray, unable to attend the ceremony due to his illness, gave his acceptance speech to the Academy via live video feed in his home.

India revelled in Oscar Glory in 2009 with the success of “Slumdog Millionaire”. A R Rahman won two Oscars, best original score and best original song - Jai Ho - with fellow Indian Gulzar.

Resul Pookutty bagged another award for sound mixing of the rags-to-riches Mumbai movie, which also won best picture and best director.
