By Gavin Seaver Winter break just ended and it was so much fun. Everyone is always excited for winter break because we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah. These are times when you celebrate with family and friends. You eat good dinners and get lots of presents. I hope everyone had a good break. By Jessica Han Christmas was wonderful! To me, Christmas means presents, family and fun. I hope everyone sang Christmas songs, hung out with family and friends and had a blast. I went to my cousin's house for a sleepover and did some fun things. I also was on stage at church with my friends, Mei, Yeha, Ryan and Jun. We played the viola, violin and piano. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

By Steven Pepe Last month, we had the
holiday shop on December 10th and 11th to get presents for people for the holidays.
There was a lot of cool stuff there! There were penguin water bottles, things that you spin around and they glow in the dark called Fyrflz (pronounced firefly’s), and also a gift set to get for your dad with a card holder, key chain, and a pen. There were also mugs for aunts, uncles, moms, and dads. And that’s not the only fun things that were there. There were free pencils that you got every time you shopped. Hope everyone had a happy holiday! By Riley Seaver Everyone loved the holiday shop! There were so many different gifts, like jewelry, keychains and even dreidel plushies. The PTA helped us pick out presents, worked the cash register and gave some people tips. Hopefully everyone learns the true meaning of holiday spirit.
Back Jack Pasta Dinner and Basket Raffle
By: Ethan Storm
Hey! Do you know what’s happening on
January 11th
? The Back Jack Pasta Dinner
and Basket Raffle at the East Brunswick
Memorial VFW post 133. The address is
485 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ. It
opens at 2:00 pm and closes at 7:00 pm.
I’m sure looking forward to this event for 2
reasons. #1 I love pasta. #2 Jack is my
friend. All the money raised will help Jack
and his family in a lot of ways like paying
for some of Jack’s hospital bills. I hope this
will be a big success.
By Steven Pepe Get ready for sports squad, 4th graders! Sports Squad for 5th graders ended on December 18th, so then it’s your turn, 4th grade! Sports Squad is like extra gym every Thursday morning for 10 weeks. For most of us in our school from 3rd-5th who love gym, this is the right club for you. Each day you get to play a fun game, like Prison Ball, or Battleship. Sports squad starts at 8:00 am every Thursday. That means you get a full hour of extra gym! For me, that is perfect. You can still sign up so join Sports Squad today!
Weather Assembly
By Nicholas Tsoukalas
A few weeks ago the weather was cloudy with a chance
of an assembly! We had a weather assembly. It was all
about how weather worked. We got to learn how
tornadoes and hurricanes were formed. We even got to
see how they appeared with a "fake screen" on T.V. They
stand in front of a green piece of paper and use a camera
to see where to point out the weather. Some kids even
got to try it and take a picture with the weather screen! I
was one of those kids. If you were there, I hope you
enjoyed the weather assembly!
Thank you to John Marshall, a New York City
weatherman who appeared on television for over 14
years.

Movie night is coming! After wearing your pajamas to school,
you can keep them on and wear your pjs to Movie Night. You
get to pick what movie you want to watch and also bring a
blanket and pillow. Also, you can see your friends and you can
buy pizza. One movie will be shown in the library and one in
the gym.
Next week, we get to vote to narrow it down to two movies. Here are the ones we will
get to pick from...

The Student Council has planned a fun day

Last month, Mrs. Boley discussed the different drills
that our children participate on a monthly basis.
Most of us didn't know the difference between a fire
drill, lock down, evacuation, bomb threat, shelter-in-
place, or medical emergency... but our children do!
We are so glad Mrs. Boley gave us some insight
into how well prepared Bowne-Munro is. This
month, the meeting will focus on getting back in
shape in 2015. A Yoga session immediately
following the meeting for a nominal fee of
$10/person.

For the first time ever, Bowne-
Munro school will be
participating in The Great
Kindness Challenge along with
over 1,000 other schools in the
United States!
During the week of January 26-30, students will challenge themselves to
perform as many acts of kindness that they possibly can!
The acts are to be accomplished in school but students are encouraged to
continue sharing their kindness at home and in the community. We will kick
off the week with a Kindness Pep Rally to get the students excited for the
challenge. We will have a PTA-sponsored assembly, indoor recess kindness
stations, kindness quotes, books, and songs, as well as many other activities
devoted to kindness! For more information, please visit...

If you're an action nerd like me, you should enjoy Once Upon A Time because it
has 3 elements: action, romance and comedy. The TV show is about a woman
named Emma and she was an orphan but on her 28th birthday, her son, Henry
comes to her front door even though she didn't really know him. She didn't
think she was ready to be a mom so she let Henry be adopted by a woman named Regina. Henry thinks that she is the evil
Queen because he has a book of fairytales and she resembles the evil Queen. He also thinks Emma's parents are Snow White
and Prince Charming. The evil Queen cast a curse to separate the family and Emma has to break it. There are fairytale
characters like Red Riding Hood, Granny, the Seven Dwarfs, Rumplestiltskin, Belle, Robin Hood and the Huntsman. I think it's
a great show!
5th grade science! By Steven Pepe Now that we have finished our microscope unit, we are on to the most favorite unit other than rockets…Levers and Pulley’s! We have started with Levers and Pulley's this month. First, we started with the levers part of the unit. We have so far only done a few experiments, but they have been really fun! We get to use spring scales to see how many Newton’s it takes to lift loads. We also have a lot more to come with this unit as well. Mrs. Ferrara said that at the end of the unit, we will also have a big project that will be so much fun! 4th graders better be ready for all this fun that’s coming next year
Building Vehicles By Emma Szaro
In Science, Mrs. Leone let us build our own vehicles. Everyone had a
great time. We had to get very creative. The only sad part is that
the next Science class, Mrs. Leone said that we had to take our
vehicles apart. I can't wait until we build something else.
