Purpose/Performance: Forget About the Boy is a song from the Broadway show Thoroughly Modern

Millie, a 2002 musical based off of a 1967 movie starring Julie Andrews. The star of the show, Millie, has just realized that she is in love with Jimmy, a young attractive salesman, but sees him with another woman and assumes the worst. This song opens Act II with Millie's coworkers desperately trying to convince her to "forget about the boy" and move on to another man.

About the Composer: Jeanine Tesori, born in 1961, is best known as an American musical theatre

arranger and composer. She debuted in 1955 by arranging the dane music for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She received multiple awards for her composition of the score for the musical Violet, including an Obie Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, and the Lucille Lortel Award. Her work with lyricist Dick Scanlan on Thoroughly Modern Millie earned her a Tony Award for best Original Score and the Drama Desk A ward for Outstanding Music.
