What is a Personal Health Budget
• Personal Health Budget is health equivalent of a personal budget
• Supported assessments and self directed support allow you to control parts of your healthcare by providing you with a personal health budget

NHS Dorset as a Pilot site• NHS Dorset is one of 20 Primary Care
Trusts in England to pilot Personal Health Budgets
• Pilot will last for 3 years
• Kent University leading evaluation nationally

Who will be offered a budget in the pilot
• 60 patients over 3 years• 25 Adults eligible for Continuing Healthcare • 20 People with Long term conditions especially
Neurological conditions• 10 Patients with Long Term Conditions in
Respiratory- COPD• 5 End of Life• Only those who wish to take a budget

• Self management courses

What it can not be used for
• Emergency care
• General Practitioner
• Gambling
• Alcohol or tobacco
