Among the programs offered were: The El Paso Zoo Camp for 2 nd - 5 th graders, Robotics for 6 th - 8 th graders, a full week, all day camp at UTEP ExciTES for 6 th - 8 th graders, a Math and Science camp at La Fe for 2 nd - 5 th graders, and a Texas Success Initiative workshop for high school students. In collaboration with Texas Tech Health Sciences Center - El Paso, also offered was a Teddy Bear Clinic for 5 th grade students and a Pathway to a Bright Future for our high school students. El programa de educaciόn para migrantes llevó a cabo un programa de verano extensivo durante el mes de junio. Se ofrecieron entre otros: el campamento del zoolόgico de El Paso para estudiantes de 2º a 5º año. Robόtica para 6º a 8º, un dia completo en UTEP en curso de ExciTES para los de 6º a 8º; campamento de ciencias y matemáticas para 2º a 5º año y un curso de la inciativa de éxito de Texas para estudiantes de preparatoria. En colaboraciόn con Texas Tech se ofreciό clinica de ositos de peluche para estudiantes de 5º y un curso para estudiantes de preparatoria sobre el Camino para un Futuro Brillante. A group of high school students were chosen to visit Texas State University in San Marcos, St. Edwards University and the University of Texas at Austin, Our Lady of the Lake, the University of the Incarnate Word and the University of Texas at San Antonio, June 19 through June 22, 2017, to explore various education opportunities available to them. The students were informed on the process of applying for college and were able to observe what life on campus is really like. Un grupo de estudiantes migrantes tuvo la oportunidad de visitar las universidades de San Marcos, San Eduardo, la de Texas en Austin, la de Nuestra Señora del Lago, la del Verbo Encarnado y la de San Antonio del 19 al 22 de junio del 2017 donde contemplaron sus posibilidades univeristarias. Summer Enrichment Program

The Migrant Education Program held an extensive summer program throughout

the month of June. Among the programs offered were: The El Paso Zoo Camp for

2nd - 5th graders, Robotics for 6th - 8th graders, a full week, all day camp at UTEP

PFS Conferences

Annual Health Fairs, School Supply and Food Distributions

Throughout the month of August, migrant families took the opportunity to

partake in our health fair events in Anthony, Clint, Dell City, Sierra Blanca,

and ESC-Region 19. Families were able to receive immunizations, dental,

hearing and vision check-ups as well as blood pressure and glucose testing.

Information on free screenings for HPV, cervical and mammograms were

also provided. Required standardized school supplies were available upon

request and in collaboration with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger we were able

to distribute close to 500 food baskets. Durante el mes de agosto, las familias migrantes participaron en ferias de

salud en Anthony, Clint, Dell City, Sierra Blanca y en el centro de Regiόn

19. Recibieron vacunas, exámenes dentales, auditivos y de la vista,

revisaron su presiόn arterial y el índice de glucosa en la sangre. También

recibieron informaciόn sobre exámenes de virus de papiloma humano,

cervical y mamogramas. A peticiόn de los padres, se ofrecieron tambien

útiles escolares. En colaboraciόn con la asociaciόn “El Pasoans Fighting

Hunger” se distribuyeron 500 despensas.

On Thursday, August, 3, 2017, our Priority for Services Migrant parents were given the opportunity to come in and conference one-on-one with Instructional Staff regarding their child’s PFS action plan. The action plan included academic progress, grades, attendance, alternative resources and tutoring options available. A food basket and school supplies were provided upon request. El jueves 3 de agosto de 2017, los padres de estudiantes con prioridad de servicios tuvieron conferencias de padres y maestros y se informaron de su progreso académico. Recibieron también una despensa y útiles escolares.
