"For every one who exalts himself will be hum-bled, but the one who humbles himself will be ex-alted.” Luke 14. Once again, we hear Jesus challenge us not to be pretentious or prideful. Last Sunday, we heard that the first will be last and the last will be first. It seems as if God turns everything upside down. Jesus encourages us to seek the lowest place, and to humble ourselves before our God. Pride is be-lieving that my accomplishments are achieved apart from the power of God. Pride can manifest in many ways; the need for respect, power, being on top and putting others down, are all forms of ugly pride. As Christians, we are called to be humble. In humility we approach God as the author and the catalyst of all of our accomplishments. We acknowledge that it is by God's grace that I have a beautiful family, roof over my head, and money in my pocket. Jesus also challenges us to invite others into our blessings. He asks us to invite the poor, lame, and the needy to our table. Those who cannot pay us back. This is true humility. Join me this Sunday in asking the Lord, for the grace of humility. Regards in Christ, Father Vincent
Your Prayer Intentions
My dear parishioners, each day I make a Holy Hour in our Rectory chapel. During this hour, I pray for our parish and all of you. Be assured that I will pray for whatever you ask, and that our Lord knows what you need even be-fore you ask him.
In Christ,
Father Vincent
