Discipleship & Nurture Courses

1. Following Jesus in Public (John 1-12)This is part 1 of a 3-part series on the Gospel of John, and in these sessions we will learn to follow Jesus in different domains of our lives as a disciple.John wrote, “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:30-31 ESV)Exploring the gospel of John will reveal to us more of who Jesus is, particularly, that He is the Christ and the Son of God. With this knowledge we will have “real and eternal life in the way He personally revealed it” (Message). Or as NLT translates it, we will “have life by the power of His name.” The life Jesus gives us is not meant only as a passport to heaven. It is life to be lived, here and now, as well as in eternity. The approach in this study of John is to look at Him through the eyes of the disciple and seek to follow Him as today’s disciples.

2. Divine Design (Discovering Your Gifts)God has a dream for your life and has an assignment for you on earth. He created you in His image, He filled you with His Spirit, and He blessed you with spiritual gifts so that you could live a life of impact. In this study, we will learn how to discover, develop, and deploy the gifts God has given us.Dates: Mondays; 18, 25 Feb; 4, 11, 18, 25 Mar 2019 Time: 9.30am-11.30amVenue: Conference RoomCost: $10 per personFacilitator: Mr Low Kwang Meng

APOLOGETICS – Defending Our FaithOften, pre-believers challenge us about why we believe what we believe, and they reveal their misperception of God by the questions that they raise. Apologetics is the discipline of giving reasons for our faith, but doing so with gentleness and respect for the questioner. This talk will help us understand how apologetics can undergird evangelism, and can help us in Outreach. PrayerFocus1. With the Lunar New Year round the corner, let us once again pray for opportunities to reach out to the people around us with God’s love and the Good News Of Salvation. Let us also uphold in prayer those who are sick, lonely or grieving over the loss of a loved one, that they may receive comfort and healing and experience God’s reassuring presence.

2. Pray for the Ministry To The Visually Impaired as we continue to explore how we can bless and reach out to the visually impaired community.

3. Prayer requests from Gospel Mission To The Blind:Boh Sheng and his brother Rendi were baptised on 6 January 2019. Pray that they will read the Bible regularly and continue to have encounters with the Lord Jesus.

Chua Ah Sye has been coming regularly for Chinese cell meeting. He still has some partial sight, and his wife bought him a printed Bible. Pray that he will be able to read the Scriptures with the limited sight and get to know the Lord personally.

Mdm Lee was diagnosed with vitreomacular traction and is very worried about the vitrectomy. Mei Hui and her sister will be very grateful if we could uphold their mother in prayers. Please continue to pray that Mdm Lee will open her heart to Jesus soon. Mei Hui and her husband Hock Seng are now going to church regularly.

Chng Seok Tin has been very busy preparing for her art exhibition and has not made time to listen to the audio Bible and messages that we have given to her. She was told that the cancer has spread into her liver and that the tarceva drug is not working. Our volunteer, Gail Lai, would like to visit her regularly and befriend her. Please pray for favour and the Lord’s anointing upon Gail, and that the spiritual blindness over Seok Tin will be broken soon.

The new contact, Mr K.K. Wong, had been hospitalized for brain tumour treatment and had not started braille lessons. He is not open to Christians. Pray that he will have an encounter with the Lord and receive salvation.

Please uphold our Chinese New Year outreach on 16 February. Mrs Peck will be preaching.

Continue to pray for volunteers who can drive to fetch the visually impaired to our fellowship meetings.

4. In a world filled with uncertainties, we can become so complacent as to believe that these uncertainties will not affect us or we may be gripped with fear and forget that our Heavenly Father is in total control. Let us continually approach the Throne of grace to pray for our broken world with the assurance that in His time, God will put all things right, restore peace and sorrow and pain will be no more.

5. As the governments of Malaysia and Singapore work towards resolving the disputes between our two countries, and while each country may feel the need to protect its sovereignty and interests, pray for good sense to prevail so that relations will not deteriorate any further. Pray for amicable solutions to be found that would benefit all.
