Since Cooney Marine took over Simpson Davits theyhave been considering ways to improve on thetraditional davit, the result is the new Series 7 Davit.
The Simpson Series 7 Davit has a seven sidedstructure giving the davit a greatly improved look andretaining all of the strength of the present design. The new model was conceived with electrification verymuch in mind and the power version has no externalmotor casing to detract from the streamlined shape.
Power winches have historically been avoided onsailing yachts due to the battery capacity on board, butthis unit is designed to keep current drain to aminimum and make the powered option a first choiceespecially as manual override is fitted as standard.
The Series 7 Davit comes in standard, long reach andtall configurations (tall only available on S225/250models) with lifting capacities from 150kg to 300kg perpair of davits (manual and electrical versions available).
White painted version also available.
Cooney Marine have introduced a new davit
to their well known Simpson Davits range.

Traditional davits have been designed to lift or lowerweights up to 250kg (550lbs) per pair of davits. Hand operated, with standard or enclosedbases, and incorporating an adjustablesliding arm extension for final positioningof the raised dinghy or tender.Standard base allows for the easy access of the securing bolts and can be used in conjunction with transom brackets or deck shoes, which makesfor the easy removal of the davits for stowage.
For electrically operated davits see Series 7 (page 17)

Cooney has an extensive manufacturing operation dedicated to
stainless steel tube bending. The CNC tube bending equipment is
among the most advanced in Europe.
The technology is capable of creating amazing profiles in stainless
tube (from 8 - 62mm dia.), limitations are determined by the
designer’s imagination!
Various areas of product design and fabrication have recognised the
potential in utilising this specialist capability, including architectural
designers, where the use of high-performance stainless tube
matches many contemporary design visions.
The marine industry, Cooney’s traditional area of manufacture, has
long recognised Cooney manufacturing skills relating to tube profiling.
Guardrails on many of the world’s most expensive yachts are
manufactured by Cooney, using this advanced technology.
James Cooney with
a complex stainless
tube design, created
using their CNC tube
bending plant.
The double helix design
was commissioned to
represent the structure
of DNA.

Manufacturing, design and product development engineers can gain clear
benefits from using the Cooney 3D measurement service, including:
The accurate recording of hand created templates and patterns for future
production and conversion to CNC cutting data. Reverse engineering of existing
products to a high degree of accuracy. Recording of 3D information, removing
the need to work to flash mouldings and templates. The service is backed by
on-site support from our specialist team, and the fast turnaround of accurately
processed CAD data is assured.
This service is available for use within the Marine industry and any area of
product development and manufacture requiring accurate recorded
measurement to industry standards.
3D MEASUREMENT
The unique capabilities of Cooney laser cutting technology supports advanced
Design, manufacture, testing and application.
Using 4kW laser technology Cooney can achieve exceptional cutting finishes in
Stainless Steel. The service offers a rapid turnaround drawing from our
extensive stocks of Stainless Plate and Stainless Tube.
The service complements our wide range of specialist engineering capabilities
which include:
Product design and development and testing, fabrication, CNC machining,
polishing, and Tube Bending (see previous pages)
