x 64’ modular buildings that enable all of our dogs to be inside. Additionally, the buildings give us the opportunity for growth when it is needed during catastrophes and emergencies.

A new contract was signed to move the buildings in mid-January 2019 to their location at the rescue. In the meantime preparations are being completed at A Doggie 4 You where the new buildings will be placed. One hundred tons of road-base was donated by Vulcan Materials and delivered by James Edison Trucking. Yellow Dog Construction started building the pads in mid-December. A drive-through of the route the buildings will take from Fair Oaks Ranch to Pipe Creek with John Andratti has taken place and everything is on schedule. We a hoping for good weather during this critical time for the project to come to fruition.

Once again, we are incredibly grateful to everyone whose monetary donations through the Facebook and Day of Giving fundraisers and an anonymous foundation grant which made moving the buildings to the rescue location possible.

Once the buildings are in place, there is still a lot of work to do to get them ready for the dogs. Eager volunteers are waiting to help get the utilities connected and the buildings ready for the dogs to call home before being adopted. There is much to do in the coming weeks, but it will be amazing when we can move the dogs in!

Z’s Rescue and Relocation Donations

The end of November Lance and Alicia Ziebell, of Z's Rescue and Relocation, gave A Doggie 4 You a significant monetary donation to get electricity to our new buildings and to help with our renovation. While Pat was thanking them Lance suggested she bring an extra driver when she visited them the following week. They donated their transport ambulance to A Doggie 4 You along with a dog washing station! We are so very grateful for the vote of confidence and thank them from the bottom of our hearts. They have made a significant investment towards helping animals now and in the future.

Gummy & Bear: Animal Cruelty Case

On the morning of December 1st Gummy and Bear were found tied to Doctor Meier's fence. Gummy is the smaller of the 2 dogs that was so matted he could not urinate. He had extensive sores on his private parts due to the urine soaking his skin. He also had messed up feet from where the nails grew into the pads of his back foot. Both his back foot and penis were bleeding badly. It appeared that somebody pulled every tooth out of this poor dog's mouth.

Bear is the larger dog which is severely obese and may have diabetes based on his size and condition. His toenails had grown into the pads of his feet, so much so he was unable to walk. He had a large tumor under his belly and an infected eye which may need to be removed. This boy needed extensive medical help. Unfortunately, both dogs were so matted they could not walk.

Gummy and Bear were given an 8 hour grooming session at Barking Beauties Spa, located at 281 N & Brookhollow in San Antonio, thanks to Kelley Bittler and her daughter Kim. Diane Witcher agreed to foster them until the dogs can be placed a permanent home.

Please donate to assist with the much needed medical attention Gummy and Bear deserved and so desperately need/ed. Your generosity will be rewarded.

ADOPTIONS:

Dogs Waiting for Their New Homes

All dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, and given appropriate distemper/parvo, rabies and bordatello shots. Our adoption fee is typically $150; however pure bred or highly adoptable dogs/puppies are priced higher to help offset the cost of treating other dogs with injuries or illnesses.

Foster an animal: There are occasions when we need foster homes. If you would like to apply to help save an animal A Doggie 4 You provides a crate, food and veterinary care. You provide the love and guidance the dog needs to become ready for a permanent home. If you would like to foster an animal, please complete a foster application at www.adoggie4you.org.

Volunteer with kennel help or at adoption events: A Doggie 4 You

can always use the extra hands. Complete a volunteer application and we will be in touch with you about volunteer opportunities.

In-kind Services: As we continue to

improve our facilities anyone with skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, etc. would be a great help. Email Pat: [email protected] We always have an urgent need for Nature’s Domain Puppy food and Costco

If you would like to help support our dogs, you can donate items at our PetSmart or PetCo adoptions on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bandera Road and 1604 locations.

A Special Farewell – RIP Fred

Fred, a long-time resident with A Doggie 4 You, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, December 23rd. He was surrounded by the Corrigan family, a lot of love, and his ball. We are grateful to Lauren and her family for adopting him into their hearts and family while giving Fred the life he so richly deserved.

We are also grateful to Heather Davis for convincing Pat to give him a chance with 11th Hour. It was an incredibly difficult decision since he had been with Pat and A Doggie 4 You for 8 years. We all truly loved him; however, Fred needed a real home where he could have all the love and attention he deserved.

Fred, we know you have found your two partners in crime, Rusty and Pablo, to frolic and play with while waiting for your family. Pat is sure Rusty and Pablo are gladly playing ball with you till your family joins you. Run freely with your ball till then……
