Get Involved With A Math Enrichment Activity WHAT: An opportunity for 4 th and 5 th graders to participate in the 2015 Math League national math contest. Answer 30 math questions in 30 minutes to the best of your ability and see how you do at the national level. Hundreds of schools across the country each year participate in this contest. The MathLeague content provides excellent preparation for other contests such as the prestigious MATHCOUNTS competition for middle school students. East Woods was a top scorer amongst school rankings in 2013 and 2014--let’s do this again in 2015! Practice: Registrants will be provided a username and password to log on to the Math League website and take practice tests at home. http://www.mathleague.com. WHEN: April 15 th ; contest test will be administered at East Woods during the school day. Cost: $5.00 registration fee. Review Session: $10.00 March 17 th 3:15-4:30 at East Woods. Learn test taking strategies, how to identify number patterns, sequences, and tricky word problems to improve math learning. Sponsor: The contest is sponsored by the Northeast Ohio STEM Alliance (NEOHSTEM) http://www.NEOHSTEM.org. NEOHSTEM is committed to encouraging K-12 students to engage in STEM related activities. Results: Test results will be released in early May. Top scorers nationally will have their name (first name and last initial) and ranking placed on the Math League website. NEOHSTEM Award pins will be given to top 5 East Woods scorers per grade. Pin recipients will also be recognized at the end-of-year NEOHSTEM ceremony.
