It is my pleasure to table the Annual Report of the Institution for the Year 2013-2014.

The Institute is celebrating a decade of activities and it has made valuable contribution in overall development of Rural Area.

The Institute is training on continuous basis and also supporting self-employment and wage employment activities.

I am really happy that the Institute has expanded its horizon over the years and made inroads in integrated Rural Development. The centers of Institute at Mundgod, Dandeli and Joida have made significant progress for reaching remote rural areas The Institute's own Infrastructure at Dandeli along with Apparel Training Center and was inaugurated on 04.03.2014.

The Economic upliftment is of utmost importance for the development of rural areas. The Institute's efforts in strengthening SHG activities are remarkable. The cumulative financial assistance to SHG by banks stood at Rs 1529.25 lakhs. A total 1212 SHGs have been linked to the Banks.

The budgetary provision has been increasing every year due to increased activities at all the 4 centres including Haliyal. Canara Bank was kind enough to increase its share of sponsorship. However I request our friends, philanthropist and Donors to support the cause.

I place on record my thanks to one and all who have supported us in our activities and expect their continued support. I also place on record the dedicated hard work put in by our team at CBD-RSETI.

I am happy that CBD-RSETI is into its decennial celebrations. The journey of the Training Institute during the last decade has been quite eventful and successful for its accomplishment.

Started with a humble settings but with a noble objective of empowering the Rural Youth, the Institute has grown to be one of the novelties in mitigating the socio economic challenges across the board. Keeping in tune with the dynamic environment and challenges, the infrastructure growth and curriculum module has been quite appreciable.

I am happy that during the last decade the Institute has positively impacted the lives of more than 13000 youth with a impressive settlement rate of well over 65%. The indirect beneficiaries well contribute their share of development to the Institute's profile. The HRD Programmes in the areas of leadership development, personality development will add to the sustenance of the developmental process. The Rural Development activities, Income generating trainings viz. Lizzat Papad making, Apparel Designing, Bamboo Articles making, etc are quite impressive.

Our Bank has been proud to be a co sponsor of CBD-RSETI. Our personnel needs to be complimented for fulfilling the objective to a great extent and also marching ahead for greater cause. The Bank shall continue to contribute its mite for the welfare of our Rural Brethren as it has been doing in various multi forums and through many innovations.

I wish the CBD-RSETI all the success in its future endeavors.

Rural Development Programmes The concept of rural development is quite comprehensive and extensive. Often rural development has meant the extension of irrigation facilities, expansions of electricity, improvement in the techniques of cultivation, construction of school building and provision of educational facilities, health care etc.” This is considered to be a lop-side view of understanding rural development. Of late, rural development signifies a complex and long term process involving fundamental transformation of rural society both at social and economic levels. It represents planned programmes to improve the quality of the life- style of the ruralities. The performance of all our extension centres in rural development activities is shown below.

A person, who has strong desire to grow with self esteem and financial independence, will always look for new

opportunities to become successful. Mr. K Muralimohan is a young man from Karatagi village of Gangavati Taluk in Koppal district. He hails from a family of mechanics. His father was a four wheeler mechanic. His elder brother opened a two wheeler repair garage as per the suggestion of his father. Muralimohan completed ITI course and searched for suitable job. But, he could not find any suitable job of his choice with handsome salary. He started assisting his brother in two wheeler garage. The major portion of Rs.400/- earned per day in the garage by servicing vehicles was taken by his brother to look after his family. Mr. Muralimohan was left with few a small amount every day. In the mean time , Mr. Muralimohan also got married. He then faced a lot of financial problems to take care of his family. He realized that it was high time to be financially independent. But what to do? How to do without entrepreneurial qualities and financial support. He was discouraged and hesitating to take own decision. He heard a surprising news from his friend that, Haliyal Canara Bank Deshpande RSETI is organizing a 30 days course on Two Wheeler Servicing and all Entrepreneur qualities will be taught in the training. He rushed to CBD- RSETI to enroll for the course.

As a part of the training time curriculum,he learnt many more servicing tricks taught by senior mechanics of big brands like Hero motors, Honda motors, Bajaj, Yamaha and TVS. Also, EDP inputs like Marketing Management, Creativity, Banking and financial aspects changed his mindset. He became confident and more enthusiastic. After completion of the training, he went to Karatagi and decided to improve the Garage. He wanted to earn more money not only for him but also for his brother. He wanted to take dealership for sales of Hero motors. He enquired the formalities. He also wanted to improve the servicing technologies. For this purpose, he tried for over draft facility of Rs.5.00 lakhs in a Nationalized Bank with a required surety. Unfortunately, he could not get it for 1 year. He then tried in State Bank of India, Karatagi by showcasing his progress. He got Rs.10,00,000 /- OD facility for his business. He improved his business in sales and servicing. Now, he is the earning Rs.1,500/- per day excluding all expenses. This has changed his status in society and helped the family a lot.
