A dance therapy exercise, Zumba-inspired program for the Special Needs Community A 501(c) (3) organization: Taxpayer I.D. 45-5034845 Slide 2 Founded to honor the memory of a special son with special needs Juan Carlos Garces 1984 - 1999 Slide 3 who left his mom with a vision. Slide 4 Inspired by the memory of her own mom, Luisa, whose life was affected every day by Parkinsons Disease, and the example of her sister, Nailet, who has lived with Cerebral Palsy all her life Slide 5 Juan Carlos Organization is dedicated to providing the citizens of the special needs community with an exercise program tailored to their needs. Slide 6 For those living with Parkinsons Disease Slide 7 For those living with physical or developmental disabilities Slide 8 At all Juan Carlos Organization classes, people of all ages and abilities are invited to join in the spirit of joyful movement. Slide 9 How did Juan Carlos Organization get started? In spring 2012, Lisbeth Garces recruited a Board of Directors who believed in her vision. Together, they planned the program and gained approval for its non-profit status from the federal and state governments by September 2012. Slide 10 Zumba (Inclusive!): What Is It? People of all abilities are invited to join together in modified Zumba routines that are joyful and lively, yet gentle enough so that each person can participate at his/her own speed and level of comfort. Combinations of fast and slow dance movements strengthen the body in a safe, supportive atmosphere. The classes provide all participants - including those with mobility challenges and in wheelchairs - with physical and mental challenges and the opportunity to build social skills. Through contributions of $2 per class from those who can afford to pay. Through donations from individuals who believe in the mission of serving the special needs community with a program of exercise tailored to people with all kinds of disabilities and mobility challenges. Slide 21 How can you support the Juan Carlos Organization program? Your tax-deductible contributions are invited and appreciated. The Board of Directors of Juan Carlos Organization invites interest from volunteers skilled in seeking grants. Slide 22 By helping someone today, you may also be helping yourself.
