We are a community based provider of

intervention and prevention services with

an outcomes-based service delivery model.

Our formula for mentoring youth combines

strength-based principles with a harm-

reduction approach and focuses on

building relationships.

We cultivate resiliency and bolster the

competencies of our children so they can

defeat and conquer exclusion, poverty, and

suffering. Our clients reside in the

Eastwood, Delton, Parkdale, Sprucewood,

McCauley, Alberta Avenue, Newton,

Montrose, Highlands, Beverly, and

Abbotsfield communities of Edmonton.

Youth also come from as far away as

Ft. Road, Londonderry, Clairview, and

Castledowns neighborhoods. This year at

Crystal Kids we will serve three hundred

plus children and an average of about sixty

children per day in the centre. There are

days however that we can see upwards of

120 children.

Who We Are Programs Rationale for Support

Nutrition Program: FREE Daily Snacks and Meals, 6

days per week support our kids nutritional needs.

Literacy and Educational Support Program: staff are

skilled and adept at fun and innovative ways to keep

kids excited about learning, reading and staying

connected to school. We celebrate a lot of successes!

Intentional Mentoring: mitigating risk by helping youth

develop healthy behaviours and life styles and

improving family communication, and self-advocacy.

Sports, Fitness, and Recreation: fitness activities,

sports skills instructions, leadership, self-esteem, and

personal development are key components. Fun

games and intramural sports competitions round out

this program.

Creative Expression, Arts, Crafts, and Culture:

Individual and group projects involving crafts, music,

dance, yoga, art classes, and photography

ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE

We are keenly aware our diversionary work

has kept families together and functioning,

supported children through times when

their families were not able to provide food,

clothing and shelter security, supervised

children when their parents were not able

to do so, and specifically were unable to

parent in a healthy manner. We level the

playing field for our kids and give them a

fair shot at functioning in a world in which

for them, the basics such as food security

is at severe risk.
