This excellent effort is a marked increase in the number of students who were returning certificates in our previous system and is a real measure of success. Our Year 12 Formal is next Thursday and marks the completion of secondary schooling for our “Class of 2014.” I have been very pleased with the application of most of our students throughout this final Higher School Examination period and I am very proud of their past six years of leadership, contribution and effort at Quirindi High School. I am sure the formal will be a wonderful event. Keep safe and best wishes for the future! We look forward to hearing of your future successes. Congratulations to Sophie Anderson and Danielle Lawlor who have been selected to play for the Central North Girls’ Rugby Union representative team at Coffs Harbour on Saturday 8 th November. Tips for using Google more effectively:

• Keywords: use keywords not full sentences • Exact phase with quotation marks “”: exact words in exact order.

eg. “better searches, better results” • Exclude words : put a minus ( - ) in front of words you want to exclude. eg. Phone –mobile • Search within a site:

eg. muse site:smh.com.au • Fill in the blanks *: treats asterisks as a place holder. eg. Rudd * reform finds hits on

different Rudd reforms. • OR : considers one or several words eg. Dogs OR cats will return hits with either one on the

page. • + Disables synonyms: Google automatically searches for synonyms. By putting +

immediately before the word it searches for the exact word. eg. +music • Ctrl F : searches within a webpage • Similar words : put ~ in front of words, eg: ~large guitar returns websites with words like
