AbstractThe present study emphasized the importance of parental encouragement in development of

child. The finding of the study are expected to be helpful in providing guidelines to the teachers

and parents. It emprises the importance of parenting in the development of children. Since the

present study aims at finding the nature of relationship between parental encouragement and

academic achievement of senior secondary students. It would be great interest to them to chem.

Up their motivational process and to help them in their academic excellence. Children need

security and feeling of confidence that comes from parents Side. Encouragement and motivation

given by parents helps the child in achieving higher goals and in shaping the dusting. Finding of

this study will throw light on these factors. Which affect parental encouragement this would be

academic achievement.

God is the supreme power in this world. There is noting beyond the eternal power. He has made

this universe so beautiful. Parents are the best creation of that creator. Parents are God. In the

Lap of their Parents. Children forget every suffering pain and grief of this world. Every child

fells protected in the Lap of their parents. Children need security and feeling of confidence that

comes from parental faith. Every successful person after reaching his destination finds that his

success is because of the held of his parents. He always finds their hands on his head. When he

looks back at his path of life he finds that it was the support and encouragement of parents that

gave him strength to achieve his goal. When we open ‘history books’ they shine like the sun of

the sky of this world. Every great man and child has encouragement of their country. They say

“Destroy! The enemy of your mother India so that the forehead of your mother Indian always

raise high” Parents can help effectively in preparing the next generation of Adults for their place

in the world by strengthening their children. It is the influence of parents that make a

considerable impact on all round develop these interests. Their interest’s aspirations, personality

development and academic achievement of the children. Parental encouragement is one of the

aspects of parents treatment patterns. In encouragement, the parents help the child, guide him

and coax him so that the may not feel disheartened the entire treatment may have many

invidiously traits. But their contents and directions are the same to give encouragement to the

child. It may be in the form of approval or it may be in the form of asking the child to modify his

behavior. In case it creates avoidance behavior in the child that accounts to discouragement.

Parental encouragement is of great significance in developing psychological as well as academic

behaviour, of a child. The present day society is based on competition in which everyone has

tendency to perform as perfectly as possible. And here motivation encouragement and support of

parents make him more confident and optimistic. Present time expects from pupils to have high

seniority, discrimination ability and superior excellence through education. To cope with these

demands our education system should develop a spirit of competition and excellence amongst

adolescents in this era of ‘achievement race’ this race is bounded to have winner and losers in it.

In this context every individual has instinctive wish to achieve high academic achievement and

represent himself as a winner of achievement race. The emphasis by both parents and society in

on high academic attainment of child and those who got it, would got it, would get recognition in

a great extent by them. Generally this distinctive ability to become a winner is omnipresent in

each individual of society. Academic achievement differs from this fact as baffling the educators

and psychologists, i.e. why do some students succeed in schools and other’s do not? To answer

this question psychologists suggest, there is energy besides the initiative ability which alter

academic achievement of students. They termed it is ‘Encouragement’ the amount of parents

interest encouragement are obviously crucial factors in the Childs progress, psychologists

educators and sociologists all agree that family is the most significant influence on the

development of the child. No parents are well aware of this situation and so want their lives. The

child’s achievement and success in formal education. System depends upon the encouragement

level that comes from parents side. Parents should be aware of the child’s progress in the school

through their reports and other contacting with teachers when children are aware that their

parents are taking interest in their studies it is quite possible that they would also be more

concerned for their education. Some recent studies have shown that and encouragement is

positively related to due educational plans of the students and is considered a critical factor in the

child’s development. Many parents express dissatisfaction when their child in not at the top.

Often setting high goal brings about discourage both in the child and in the parents. When the

goals are beyond normal expectation. The situation is constructed so that the continual

discouragement in inevitable. If the child has an intelligence of talent to achieve a measure of

success he may find a precarious satisfaction in feeling admiration at home. But he can rarely

relax because of fear of losing approval. It may make students feel frustrated or inferior. In the

development of child, Parents attitude. Condition and treatment given by them play an important

role in child developmental scale. And for adolescent pupils academic achievement is primary

factor of personality development. In this context we can say that parental encouragement may

influence academic achievement of a pupil. The present study aims at findings the relationship

between parental encouragement and academic achievement of senior secondary schools

students.

parental encouragement and academic achievement of science students is 6.26. The co-operation

between the parental encouragement and academic achievement of the science students is 0.00.

There is negligible co-relation between the parental encouragement and academic achievement

of science senior secondary students.

Findings: In this investigation the researcher proposed to make a comparative study of the

parent tall encouragement between art and science senior secondary student in relation to their

academic achievement scale (PES) by R.R. Sharma and cores of a cadmic achievement in 10th

class were taken the study was conducted on the sample of 100 students of Haily Mandi suitable

technique data was analyzed and Interpreted. The statistical analysis of data present in the tables

of previous chapter helped in testing the various hypothesis formulated to realize the objective of

the study. The important findings are given below.

1. There is no co-relation of parental encouragement science senior secondary students in

relation to their academic achievement.

2. There is low positively co-relation of parental encouragement of Art senior secondary

students in relation to their academic achievement.

3. There is significant difference in the academic achievement of art and science senior

secondary students. Because science students shows better result than the Art students.

4. There is no significant difference in parental encouragement of Art science senior

secondary students.

Conclusion

From this finding we come know that there is no significance difference of the parental

encouragement of Art and science students. There is no effect of parental encouragement of

science students and arts students.

But the academic achievement of the science students is higher then the cadmic

achievement of Art students. So the parental encouragement of these students results same but

the academic achievement differs from each other. So the science students achieve the high level

scoring in their academic in 10th class and the Art Students scoring low level than the science

students in their academic achievement.
